Lazio vs Juventus prediction

With Lazio losing four of last five league fixtures and Juventus winning last four, it is hardly surprising that the Bianconeri have been made favourites by the online bookmakers, and even though things are rarely as straightforward in football, the hosts will have to work really hard if they are to end the barren run.

One point from last five

Against all odds, Lazio secured a top 3 finish in last season’s Serie A campaign, but their failure to leapfrog local rivals AS Roma in the standings would prove costly. That meant that the Biancocelesti had to battle Bayer Leverkusen for a place in the Champions League group stages, and they eventually missed out on Europe’s elite competition. That proved quite a blow to Stefano Pioli’s side, who would impress in some games, only to be utterly disappointing in others, with heavy losses to Chievo (4-0) and Napoli (5-0) acting as serious confidence blows. Lazio did manage to get their Europa League back on track, having secured the first place in the standings, but they have been utterly disappointing in the league of late, losing to Atalanta, AC Milan, Roma and Empoli, while only sharing spoils with Palermo. Team’s back line has suffered a great deal since Stefan de Vrij picked up a season-ending injury, while the poor form of key midfielders Felipe Anderson and Antonio Candreva is another cause for concern. And with strikers Klose, Djordjevic and Matri scoring mere 4 league goals between them, Lazio have little reason for optimism ahead of the visit of Serie A holders.

Centre-back Santiago Gentiletti returns from suspension, but Senad Lulic, Ogenyi Onazi and Stefan de Vrij are all out injured.

The real Juventus stands up

It was by no means easy for Juventus to continue where they left off last term, having not only won the league title in style and reached the Champions League, but also stayed without two key members of the squad. But, boasting plenty of players with a winner’s mentality, great deal of character and experience, I had no doubts that the Bianconeri would turn things around. The good Champions League form definitely helped Max Allegri’s side return to the right track in the league, while another triumph over Manchester City all but secured them the first position in the CL group. At the same time, Juventus revived their league title bid with four successive wins, and with the team also keeping a clean sheet in each of last three games on all fronts, we can safely say that the real Old Lady is now effectively back. But, with Napoli still seven points in front in the overall standings, the Bianconeri will be very motivated to pile more misery on Lazio and place extra pressure on their title rivals, with 6-2-0 record in last eight meetings with their next opponents giving them plenty to build on ahead of the trip to Rome.

While Paul Pogba is banned, Sami Khedira, Hernanes and Roberto Pereyra remain in the infirmar, but Mario Lemina could return.

Lazio vs Juventus betting tip

Lazio are going through a very rough patch at the moment and having lost six of last eight matches vs Juventus, we cannot expect them to fare much better this time out. The Bianconeri, on the other hand, are brimming with confidence and we are backing them to win at Stadio Olimpico as well.
