Juventus vs Empoli prediction

League leaders Juventus will be looking to strengthen their grip on Scudetto with a win over mid-table Empoli on Matchday 31 of the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign. The Bianconeri are eyeing their 12th consecutive win at home, but they will have to prove their worth on the field.

Juve eager to defend the trophy

Juventus were more than unfortunate not to eliminate Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, with Thomas Muller saving Pep Guardiola’s troops in the dying minutes of the clash at Allianz-Arena. As a result, Juve will be fully focused on the Serie A in the remainder of the season and the title holders will be looking to extend their winning run at home to 12 games when thee take on Empoli on Saturday evening. Max Allegri’s troops outclassed Torino in the local derby on Matchday 30, with Alvaro Morata scoring a brace for the Bianconeri. The Spanish attacker is likely to be recalled to the starting line-up and, no doubt, the opposition defenders should have him at bay in the Juventus Stadium clash. It has to be noted that Juve managed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last six home games in the Serie A.

The likes of Alex Sandro, Leonardo Bonucci and Sami Khedira are all sidelined through suspension, while Martin Caceres misses the game with injury. Paulo Dybala and Claudio Marchisio are both rated doubtful.

Back-to-back draws

Following four consecutive defeats to the likes of Frosinone, Sassuolo, Roma and Genoa, Empoli shared the spoils with Sampdoria on Matchday 29. Even though many people expected that the Azzurri would return to winning ways in their last league match, they were hold to a goalless draw by relegation-threatened Palermo and, no doubt, the visitors head into Saturday’s clash against Juve with the lack of confidence. Marco Giampaolo’s men sit in 11th place in the Serie A standings, but a victory over the defending champions could see them regain their spot in top ten. Empoli, though, are regarded as big underdogs in the clash against Max Allegri’s troops and I do not believe that they are capable of putting an end to their 11-match winless run in the national championship. Experienced attacker Massimo Maccarone has netted 11 goals in the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign to date and he is widely expected to lead the line for the visitors against Juve.

Coach Marco Giampaolo can’t count on the likes of Cosic, Laurini and Livaja for the match against Juventus, but there are no suspended players in the away side.

Quick Facts

  • Juventus are eyeing their fourth consecutive win over Empoli
  • Bianconeri are after their seventh consecutive clean sheet at home
  • Max Allegri’s men scored exactly one goal in four of their last five home games
  • Empoli failed to record a win in previous 11 matches
  • Azzurri are after their first ever win over Juve in Turin
  • Empoli are on a five-game winless run on the road

Juventus vs Empoli betting tip

Juventus have been impressive at home ground in the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign. The Bianconeri are fully focused on the national championship and given Empoli’s poor form, there is every chance the reigning champions will pick up all three points from the game. Max Allegri’s men have been impressive at the back this season and they are likely to keep their seventh consecutive clean sheet.

Tip: Juventus to win to nil
