Inter vs Juventus prediction

The Derby D’Italia is the pinnacle of week 8 in Serie A, the game which could define the rest of the season for both clubs who have formed a longstanding rivalry dating back to the 1960s.

Inter’s winless streak

Roberto Mancini’s men have opened the new season on a high, recording five straight wins in Serie A, but their streak was cut short with the comprehensive home defeat at the hands of league leaders Fiorentina who managed to put four in Handanovic’s net. Disappointing loss was followed by the away 1-1 draw at Sampdoria and Inter will need a swift shift in fortunes against Juventus. Nerazzuri have this season been pretty impressive defensively allowing just six goals, four of which were conceded in Fiorentina loss, but they have lacked the finishing touch and were unable to realize the full potential in attack. Stevan Jovetic has been the most outstanding performer of late, scoring three goals in his five games for Inter. Much has been expected from another summer signing, the Croatia winger Ivan Perisic, who failed to deliver. However, he broke the duck against Sampdoria, having scored his first goal for Inter and even added another one for Croatia during the international break, so Mancini will be hoping his in-form attacker could play a key role in the Italian derby. The game against Juventus will be another great test for Mancini’s team who will have to show determination and will in order to prove their title ambitions to the public.

Roberto Mancini will have his full squad to choose from, with the exception of Felipe Melo who is still struggling with his injury, and Nemanja Vidic who remains a long-term absentee. Inter manager will be sweating over Stevan Jovetic’s thigh strain hoping that Montenegro international will be passed fit in time for the game.

Things looking up for Juve

Juventus fans are not used to seeing their club sitting at the middle of the standings, not after their domination over the past four years which looks set to be ended this term in Serie A. The Old Lady have collected mere eight points from seven games and are sitting in 12th in the standings, but their last two games were seen as positive signs of improvement. Massimiliano Allegri’s troops have notched back-to-back wins before the international break, against Sevilla 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League and against Bologna 3-1 in Serie A. The great derby against Inter will be a real test for the team who managed to keep just one clean sheet so far in the season. Juventus have had a lot of problems breaking down organized defence lines, and with Inter’s being just as such, Juventus are in for a tough match. Allegri will rely on Paulo Dybala who seems to have found his pace for Juventus. The Argentine has netted three goals in six appearances and will be expected to step up once again. Another Juventus player who is catching a great deal of attention is Hernanes, as the Brazilian midfielder moved from Inter this summer and will be closely watched in this game.

Manager Max Allegri will have almost all of his players at disposal for the first time this season. Claudio Marchisio is coming back from his long-term injury and will be a major boost in the middle, while Allegri will be hoping that Paul Pogba and Alvaro Morata will be able to shake off their minor knocks picked up on international duty. Martin Caceres has been ruled out with his sprained ankle playing for Uruguay and he will join Roberto Pereyra and Stephen Lichtsteiner in the medical room.

Inter vs Juventus betting tip

The Italian giants have battled with inconsistency early in the season and will be looking to record the important win in order to boost their confidence. Inter have been going downhill in their last three games, while Juventus’ form has improved significantly and it is well worth mentioning that Juventus are unbeaten in their last six matches against Nerazzuri in all competitions, and I can see them breaking the Inter’s backline eventually.
