Inter vs Bologna prediction

Inter will be looking to keep their hopes of reaching the Champions League alive with a win over Bologna on Saturday night. The Rossoblu have been misfiring of late and it remains to be seen if they are capable of spoiling Inter’s party at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Important win over Palermo

Despite producing a thrilling display in the return leg, Inter eventually failed to eliminate Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-finals. The Nerazzurri do not participate in the European competitions this season, meaning that they will be fully focused on the Serie A in the remainder of the season. Roberto Mancini’s men sit in 5th place in the standings ahead of Matchday 29, but a win over Bologna would see them move closer to the Champions League berth. Inter recorded a routine 3-1 win over Palermo at the weekend and it remains to be seen if the Nerazzurri are capable of registering their fourth consecutive triumph at their Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Manuel Icardi found the net in the 3-1 win over the Rosanero and he is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts against Bologna. The Argentine attacker has netted 12 goals in the league this season to date.

Stevan Jovetic is likely to miss the match with injury, while Rey Manaj is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day. Adem Ljajic is widely expected to keep his place in the starting XI.

Rossoblu firing blanks, but look solid at the back

Bologna did remarkably well to hold Juventus to a goalless draw on 19 February and after sharing the spoils with Palermo in Sicilia, the team played out yet another goalless draw at the weekend. The Rossoblu shared the spoils with Carpi in front of home fans and it has to be noted that they managed to keep their fourth consecutive clean sheet in the Serie A. Roberto Donadoni’s men are ten points clear of the relegation zone and no doubt the club chiefs are satisfied with the way he has been doing his job. Bologna, though, face a difficult task in Saturday’s match against Inter, but no doubt the visitors will rely on their rock-solid defence in the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza clash. A man to watch in the away team will be Mattia Destro, who has netted eight goals in 26 appearances for the team this season.

Coach Roberto Donadoni has no fresh injury worries ahead of the match and he is likely to field the best possible side against Inter. Experienced attacker Sergio Floccari is pushing for a start.

Quick Facts

  • Manuel Icardi scored the winner for Inter in the reverse fixture (1-0)
  • Inter are eyeing their fourth straight win at home
  • Nerazzurri failed to keep a clean sheet in last five league matches
  • Bologna scored only one goal in previous four league fixtures
  • Rossoblu recorded their last win at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in 2013

Inter vs Bologna betting tip

Inter are eager to book their place in the Champions League, meaning that this has to go down as a must-win game for the hosts. Bologna have been impressive at the back of late, with the team keeping four consecutive clean sheets, but considering that the Rossoblu have been firing on all cylinders in recent weeks, I am tempted to put my money on Roberto Mancini’s men, who have been producing splendid displays at home of late.

Tip: Inter to win
