Frosinone vs Empoli prediction

Frosinone will be hoping that the last-gasp equalizer against champions Juventus will provide just the boost the team need to turn this season around. Empoli, on the other hand, aim to continue with good performances on the road and thus neutralize the disappointing results at their Stadio Carlo Castellani.

Maiden Serie A campaign

Established in 1912, Frosinone spent the majority of their time in Italy’s third tier and they only reached Serie B in 2006. Nine years later and the Canarini gained their first ever promotion to the top flight, but everything suggests they will be quickly returning to where they belong. Frosinone were one of a handful of sides that opted against heavy recruitment upon securing promotion, while the players they did sign are not exactly accustomed to playing top flight football. It was, therefore, not surprising to see Canarini lose their first four league matches, and they would have lost the fifth one as well had it not been for the very fortunate draw against Juventus. The biggest problem is that Frosinone were completely outclassed in four of their five matches so far, while only showing some promise in the 1-0 loss to Bologna. The lack of quality and Serie A experience is likely to haunt the Canarini throughout the campaign and they now face a tough task against very good Empoli side that were quite impressive in their away matches this season.

The only good news is that coach Roberto Stellone has no selection worries, with Matteo Ciofani and Alessandro Frara having recovered from injury.

Second season syndrome

Empoli was one of biggest surprise packages of last season, having serious exceeded expectations in their first campaign upon gaining promotion to Serie A. However, that was a blessing in disguise as the likes of Maurizio Sarri, Mirko Valdifiori, Elseid Hysaj, Luigi Sepe, Daniele Rugani and Matias Vecino all left this summer. The club then did well to sign some very good replacements, with Riccardo Saponara, Leandro Paredes and Marko Livaja all expected to play important roles this season. The new-look team will obviously need some time to gel and that was probably the main reason why the Azzurri failed to get anything from games against Chievo, Milan and Atalanta despite producing some very good displays. However, 2-2 draw with Napoli and away win over Udinese are enough to suggest that this team have a lot more potential than they are showing and away game against weak Frosinone might feel as a perfect opportunity to kick-start their season. The visitors will also have a number of important players back to the side, which should provide additional boost.

Uros Cosic and Levan Mchedlidze remain on the sidelines, but Piotr Zielinski, Federico Barba and Manuel Pucciarelli should all be recalled.

Frosinone vs Empoli betting tip

Frosinone have failed to prove they have what it takes to compete at this level and the lack of Serie A experience could turn out to be a major issue when facing very good Empoli side. The Azzurri are playing better than their recent results would suggest and we are backing them to get at least one point from this match.
