West Ham vs Manchester City prediction

Manchester City will be aiming to build on a routine 4-0 win over Crystal Palace when they take on yet another capital club West Ham United on day 23 of the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign. The Citizens travel to London with genuine title hopes, but Saturday’s clash against the giant killers will be anything but a walk in the park for the title-chasing team.

Hammers enjoy playing against top-table sides

West Ham United have been producing scintillating displays under Slaven Bilic. Despite being hit by injuries in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign the Hammers have already defeated the likes of Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool in the national championship and that is giving the fans a reason for optimism ahead of Saturday’s game against Manuel Pellegrini’s troops. The capital club sit in sixth place in the Premier League standings and it has to be noted that Newcastle United put an end to their four-game winning run at the weekend. West Ham aim to get back on course, but recording yet another win over the star-studded Citizens is easier said than done. Seeing that attackers Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho remain on the sidelines, Enner Valencia is widely expected to lead the attack for the hosts against Man City.

Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho and Manuel Lanzini are all sidelined with injury, but coach Slaven Bilic has no other injury concerns ahead of the Manchester City clash.

Kun Aguero is back!

Manchester City failed to impress in a goalless draw with Everton earlier in January, but they did remarkably well to demolish Crystal Palace (4-0) at the weekend. Sergio Aguero has been struggling with injuries this season, but the Argentine striker proved his worth in the victory over Eagles as he scored a brace, while providing an assist for David Silva. Man City’s fresh confidence will be tested in Saturday’s game against West Ham United and seeing that a win over the Hammers could see the title-chasing side climb to top position in the standings, I am positive that the visitors will go all guns blazing at the capital club. League leaders Arsenal face Chelsea in the London derby, meaning that Man City should take advantage of the situation. The Citizens were beaten by West Ham at their Etihad Stadium in the reverse fixture and no doubt Manuel Pellegrini’s men are hungry for revenge.

Eliaquim Mangala, Vincent Kompany, Wilfried Bony and Samir Nasri are all out of contention with injury. Kolo Toure is likely to return to the starting line-up.

Quick Facts

  • West Ham United are undefeated in nine home games
  • Hammers managed to keep three clean sheets in previous four home fixtures
  • Manchester City are eyeing their fourth consecutive clean sheet
  • Citizens recorded only one win in previous seven away games
  • Man City scored 1+ goals in each of their last eight meetings with West Ham

West Ham vs Manchester City betting tip

Manchester City produced a brilliant performance in the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace and seeing that West Ham head into Saturday’s game with a severely-weakened squad, I believe that the Citizens are capable of getting their revenge on Slaven Bilic’s men. Kun Aguero has found his scoring boots of late and, taking everything into account, I believe that there is a certain value in betting on Manuel Pellegrini’s men. A win over West Ham would definitely help Man City stay in the race for the Premier League trophy.

Tip: Manchester City to win
