Watford vs Leicester prediction

Title-chasing Leicester City square off against bottom-table team Watford at Vicarage Road Stadium on Saturday. The Foxes aim to cement top position in the Premier League standings, but they will have to prove their worth on the field.

Promising performance against Man Utd

Despite producing a fine display in Wednesday’s clash against Manchester United, Watford suffered a 1-0 loss to Louis van Gaal’s troops at the Old Trafford. The Hornets have been misfiring of late, but they are on the right track to secure the Premier League survival and nothing else matters. Quique Sanchez Flores’ troops failed to score in previous two home fixtures in the national championship, but it has to be noted that they are on a three-game unbeaten run at their Vicarage Road Stadium. Odion Ighalo is enjoying a season to remember and the Nigerian forward will give 100% to start a new goal-scoring run in the national championship. Anyhow, the hosts will be happy with one point from the clash as they will move one step closer to securing the elite division survival should they happen to share the spoils with the league leaders on Saturday afternoon.

Tommie Hoban is sidelined with injury, while Jose Manuel Jurado is unlikely to recover in time to face Leicester City. Joel Ekstrand is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day. Rene Glimartin is yet another absentee in the home team (knee injury).

The dream continues

Leicester City were on top of the league on Christmas Day and many people expected that they would start to struggle in the second half of the season. However, the Foxes did well to prove the doubters wrong and they are leading the chase for the Premier League trophy ahead of Matchday 29. Claudio Ranieri’s team were more than fortunate to beat Norwich City at their King Power Stadium in their last game in February, but they dropped two points in Tuesday’s clash against WBA. Leicester have been producing scintillating displays on the travels this season and it seems as if they play better when they rely on the counter attacks. Jamie Vardy is likely to lead the attack for the visitors and he will be looking to add more goals to his account when Leicester City take on Watford on Saturday. You should bear in mind that the Foxes are eyeing their ninth away win of the season.

Important midfielder N’Golo Kante and Matthew James have yet to recover from their respective injuries, but there are no suspended players in the away team. Leonardo Ulloa is pushing for a start.

Quick Facts

  • Over 2.5 goals were scored in previous four meetings between the two teams
  • Watford are on a five-match unbeaten run at home
  • Hornets managed to keep a clean sheet in previous two league fixtures at Vicarage Road
  • Leicester City have suffered only two defeats on the road this season
  • Foxes scored seven goals in previous three meetings with Watford

Watford vs Leicester betting tip

Watford are tough to beat at home, while Leicester City have been producing fine performances on the travels this term, meaning that a close encounter is on the cards. The hosts are eager to bounce back from the 1-0 loss to Manchester United and the Foxes will retain top position in the standings with one point from Saturday’s clash against the Hornets, everything suggests the two teams will share the spoils on Matchday 29.
