Leicester City vs Manchester United prediction

This Saturday brings us a top-of-the-table clash between Leicester City and Manchester United. Claudio Ranieri’s squad are currently one point in front of the Red Devils, and will look for a chance to increase the advantage and secure the first position in the League. On the other hand, Manchester United will want to make up for a lacklustre performance against PSV Eindhoven in Champions League, and take over the Premiership throne.

Time to break the record

Leicester City are currently living their dream, being at the top of the Premier League, and boasting the best scoring record in the league this season. Their star attacker, James Vardy, being the top goalscorer, has been grabbing the headlines for his performances and is one step away from breaking the record of Ruud Van Nistelrooy, by scoring in his eleventh consecutive game this season. Having bagged once in their previous encounter at King Power Stadium, the notion is he will be the record holder on Sunday morning.

The Foxes managed to score 28 goals this season, 8 in their last three fixtures, and are the only team to score in every game, so there is nothing that stops us from believing that the Blues will not continue their miraculous streak. On the other hand, the Blue army conceded 20 goals so far, 11 on home ground, which drives us to a conclusion that the defensive line is not as good as the attackers.

The next fixture is a big test for Riyad Mahrez, Danny Drinkwater and abovementioned Vardy, since Leicester City lost ten times in their previous eleven matches against Manchester United, but last season’s home victory against their next opponents (5-3) and their current form gives them hope they could take all three points this Saturday.

Claudio Ranieri has almost the entire squad at his disposal, since only Matty James is set to miss the clash against his former club as the midfielder continues his recovery from a knee problem.

Will the goals return?

After yet another toothless performance, this time against PSV in Champions League (0-0), there was a lot of anger from Manchester United fans, concerning the efficiency of the team. The Red Devils failed to create too many clear-cut chances and failed to convert any of them, putting in question their advancement to the knockout stage. David de Gea has urged the supporters to put this pale performance aside and focus on the next Premier League clash against Leicester City.

Louis Van Gaal is facing plenty of criticism, with quite a few former United players calling for his dismissal. He himself admitted that the team is struggling to score this season, but is confident that the goals will return.
The Red Devils are not in such a bad form, having registered three victories and one draw in their previous four matches in all competitions. Having scored 10 of their 19 goals in away fixtures, and bearing in mind that the Foxes conceded 11 goals on home ground, Van Gaal’s men are not without chances in this game. Additionally, Manchester United won ten of their last eleven clashes with the Blue army, and the last time they did not score against Leicester was in 1997.

The Manchester outfit could be without Phil Jones, Michael Carrick, Luke Shaw, James Wilson, Antonio Valencia and Ander Herrera for Saturday’s game.

Leicester City vs Manchester United betting tip

The Foxes are flying pretty high at the moment and, bearing in mind their attacking style of play, I am quite sure that James Vardy and his teammates will create a number of opportunities in front of de Gea’s goal. Having scored in every game against Leicester City since 1997, Man Utd will not be without response, so my tip for this match is to bet on goals.
