Chelsea vs Everton prediction

Having dropped two points in Wednesday’s game against WBA, Chelsea will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Everton at their Stamford Bridge. The Toffees outplayed the capital club in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park, meaning that Guus Hidink’s men are hungry for revenge.

Yet another disappointment

Chelsea produced a thrilling display in a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on Matchday 21 and many people expected that the title holders would record a routine win over WBA in midweek. The Blues, though, shared the spoils with Tony Pulis’s troops in London, but it has to be noted that the Baggies scored a late equalizer in the Stamford Bridge clash. Chelsea still sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table, meaning that every single game is a must-win game for the capital club. Guus Hiddink’s team take on Everton on Saturday, with Eden Hazard missing yet another match with injury. Brazilian winger Willian has been producing splendid showings of late and the opposition defenders are likely to have their work cut out for them when facing the former Shakhtar Donetsk starlet. Diego Costa, who has netted only six goals in the league this season, will continue to lead the line for the hosts.

Eden Hazard and Radamel Falcao remain in the recovery room, but coach Guus Hiddink has no other selection worries ahead of the trip match. Serbia midfielder Nemanja Matic is pushing for a start.

Toffees showed character at Etihad Stadium

Everton did remarkably well to spoil Manchester City’s party for the second time in ten days. The Toffees played out a goalless draw with Manuel Pellegrini’s troops at Etihad Stadium, with the team extending their unbeaten run to four games in all competitions. Roberto Martinez’s charges aim to move a little closer to the European places, but beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is easier said than done. Anyhow, Everton have already proved their worth in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign and everybody is aware of the fact that the Toffees are capable of matching star-studded teams. Romelu Lukaku has overcome his injury and the in-form attacker is likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders. The Belgian forward has scored 15 goals this term and he will be the man to watch in the home team, alongside midfielder Ross Barkley, who is enjoying a very successful season.

Tom Cleverly is rated doubtful, whilst Tony Hibbert, Seamus Coleman Tyias Browning and James McCarthy remain in the treatment room. Steven Pienaar is fit and he could play some part in Saturday’s match after coming as a substitute in the goalless draw with Man City.

Quick Facts

  • Chelsea suffered only one loss in previous five home games
  • Blues scored 2+ goals in each of their previous three matches at Stamford Bridge
  • Steven Naismith scored a hat-trick for Everton’s last win over Chelsea (3-1)
  • Everton are unbeaten in previous five away fixtures in the league
  • Toffees recorded their last win at Stamford Bridge in 2011 (FA Cup)

Chelsea vs Everton betting tip

All eyes will be at Stamford Bridge when the two teams take on each other on day 22 of the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign. Everton did play out the goalless draw with Man City in midweek, but given their attacking potential, I would not be surprised if Roberto Martinez’s men score on Saturday. Chelsea struggle at the back, but they have been scoring goals for fun of late and, taking everything into account, both teams to score bet should be considered.

Tip: Both teams to score
