Head to Head Record

El Salvador vs Peru 1-0 (2009 Friendly International)

Peru vs El Salvador Team News

The likes of Claudio Pizarro, Jefferson Farfan, Carlos Zambrano and Juan Manuel Vargas failed to make the final cut, meaning that they will miss Trinidad & Tobago friendly. Renato Tapia is likely to be recalled to the starting line-up after he came as a substitute in the 4-1 win over the Soca Warriors. Paulo Guerrero and Aldo Corzo will not play against El Salvador, but Raul Ruidiaz and Andy Polo are both rated doubtful for Sunday’s match. Carlos Caceda is likely to start in goal.

Injured: None

Doubtful: Raul Ruidiaz, Andy Polo

Suspended: None

The likes of Herberth Sosa and Rodrigo Rivera have been left out of the squad. Uncapped players Juan Carlos Portillo and Bryan Tamacas could make their El Salvador debuts against Peru. Roberto Dominguez, Jaime Alas and Arturo Alvarez have all been omitted. A man to watch in the away team will be Rafael Burgos, who has netted 13 goals for the national team so far.

Quick Facts

  • Peru are after their first ever win over El Salvador
  • Over 2.5 goals were scored in three of Peru’s last four games
  • El Salvador are on a nine-game winless run
  • Ramon Enrique Maradiaga’s men failed to score in four of their last five away games
  • It has been seven years since the two teams last met in a friendly match

Peru vs El Salvador Prediction

Peru impressed in the 4-0 win over Trinidad and they will be looking to build on the performance when they take on El Salvador in yet another friendly match. This will be Peru’s final warm-up game ahead of the Copa America Centenario and despite the fact that coach Ricardo Gareca is likely to mix the squad against El Salvador, I am tempted to put my money on the Incas.
