Troyes vs Monaco prediction

Troyes will be aiming to record their first win of the season when they host third-placed Monaco at their Stade de L’Aube on day 19 of the 2015/2021 Ligue 1 campaign. Les Rouges et Blancs want to retain their place in the Champions League berth, but the visitors will have to prove their worth on the field.

Alarming situation at Stade de L’Aube

After impressing in the 2014/2015 Ligue 2 campaign Troyes secured promotion to the French top flight. However, the newcomers have been struggling at this level and, as things stand now, they are unlikely to secure the elite division survival. New coach Claude Robin helped the team share the spoils with Bastia on his debut, but it has to be noted that Troyes have yet to record a win in the 2015/2021 Ligue 1 campaign. The Stade de L’Aube outfit sit at the rock bottom in the standings and, with Monaco next, they are unlikely to put an end to the negative trend. Troyes are 12 points behind the safe zone, meaning that they are on a very difficult quest in the national championship. You should have in mind that Claude Robin’s team recorded their last win in Ligue 1 back in 2013.

The likes of N’Diaye, Kone, Rincon, Lacour, Marial and Nivet all miss the Monaco game with injury, but midfielder Stephane Darbion returns to contention after missing the Bastia game through suspension.

Monaco eyeing Champions League berth

Monaco will be looking to bounce back from a heavy 3-0 loss to Bordeaux in Coupe de la Ligue when they square off against Troyes in their final match in 2015. Les Rouges et Blancs recorded back-to-back wins over Bastia and Saint-Etienne in previous two league fixtures and they will be aiming to put icing on the cake with a victory over the relegation-threatened side. Leonardo Jardim’s men are eyeing a place in the Champions League and a win over Troyes could see them finish the first half of the season in second position in the standings. Monaco are after their sixth away win of the season and they are surely capable of picking up all three points from the Stade de L’Aube clash. Les Rouges et Blancs failed to book their place in the Europa League knockout stages and no doubt they will be fully focused on the national championship in days to come.

Coach Leonardo Jardim can’t count on the likes of Adama Traore, Fabio Coentrao, Marcelo Carrillo, Almamy Traore and Danijel Subasic (all injury). Mario Pasalic is rated doubtful for the Troyes game.

Quick Facts

  • Troyes have netted only two goals in previous six home fixtures in Ligue 1
  • Claude Robin’s men are unbeaten in last four meetings with Monaco in all competitions
  • Under 2.5 goals were netted in five of Troyes’ previous six home matches in the national championship
  • Monaco have netted at least one goal in each of their nine away fixtures this season
  • Les Rouges et Blancs are on a five-game unbeaten run in Ligue 1
  • Leonardo Jardim’s troops are after their first win over Troyes since 2006

Troyes vs Monaco betting tip

Monaco have been in a much better form of late than Troyes and despite the fact that les Rouges et Blancs head into Saturday’s Ligue 1 clash following the 3-0 loss to Bordeaux (CDL) I believe that there is a big value in betting on the visitors, who are eyeing their sixth away victory of the season. The lack of confidence should prove to be Troyes’ biggest problem in the Stade de L’Aube game and, taking everything into account, away win should be considered this time out.

Tip: Monaco to win
