Toulouse vs Bordeaux prediction

After holding Olympique Marseille to a 1-1 draw at the weekend, Toulouse will be looking to record their first league win since 9 January when they host Bordeaux at their Stadium Municipal on Saturday night.

Now or never

Toulouse are having a season to forget. Les Pitchouns have been struggling in the 2015/2016 Ligue 1 campaign and it is no surprise they sit in the penultimate position in the standings ahead of Matchday 30. Pascal Dupraz’s troops are seven points behind Gazelec Ajaccio, who are safe for now, meaning that they face a must-win situation in Saturday’s game against Bordeaux. Toulouse are eager to put an end to their nine-match winless run in the national championship and no doubt the relegation strugglers will fight tooth and nail in order to grab something from the clash. It has been two months since les Pitchouns recorded their last league win and that is one of the reasons why Pascal Dupraz’s men are considered underdogs in the clash against Bordeaux. Toulouse head into the match following a 1-1 draw with Marseille and it has to be noted that the team’s performance was more than promising in the Stade Velodrome clash.

Mihai Roman misses the match with injury, but coach Pascal Dupraz has no fresh selection worries ahead of the match. Yann Bodiger is pushing for a start.

Girondins hit by injuries

Bordeaux suffered a heavy 4-1 loss to Reims in their last away game in the Ligue 1, but it has to be noted that coach Willy Sagnol could count on a number of first-team regulars for the game. Les Girondins shared the spoils with Gazelec Ajaccio at the weekend and they will be looking to stop the run of three matches without a win when they take on Toulouse on Saturday night. Willy Sagnol’s troops aim to regain their place in the top half of the season, but the match against les Pitchouns will be anything but a walk in the park for the visitors. The former Bayern Munich footballer still has a number of selection worries and that is the main reason why away win should not be considered this time out. You should have in mind that Bordeaux recorded their last win at Toulouse back in 2009, speaking of league matches. A man to watch in the away side will be Cheick Diabate, who scored in the 1-1 draw with Ajaccio.

The likes of Debuchy, Lefevbre, Maulun, Gajic, Pallois, Plasil, Carrasco, Maurive-Belay and Seric all missed the Ajaccio game and they are unlikely to feature against Toulouse.

Quick Facts

  • Toulouse are on an 11-game winless run in all competitions
  • Les Pitchouns failed to record a win in previous seven home fixtures in Ligue 1
  • Bordeaux conceded 2+ goals in each of their last four away fixtures in the league
  • Les Girondings recorded their last win at Stadium Municipal back in 2009
  • Both teams scored in each of previous five meetings between Toulouse and Bordeaux

Toulouse vs Bordeux betting tip

Both Toulouse and Marseille have been out of form of late and no doubt, both teams will give their best to return to winning ways in the Ligue 1. However, seeing that les Pitchouns, who are desperate to escape the relegation zone, want this victory more than their rivals, home win appears on the cards. In their last meeting at Stadium Municipal Toulouse emerged triumphant.
