Rennes vs PSG prediction

Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to cement top position in the Ligue 1 standings with a win over Rennes at Roazhon Park. Les Rouges et Noirs aim to put an end to their six-game winless run in the national championship, but beating the title holders is easier said than done.

Six-match winless run

Following a heavy 4-1 loss Nice, Rennes shared the spoils with Lorient at Stade Yves Allainmat – Le Moustoir in their last Ligue 1 match. Les Rouges et Noirs are on a six-game winless run in the national championship, but they did well to beat Bastia in the Coupe de la Ligue on Tuesday evening. Philippe Montanier’s team sit in seventh place in the Ligue 1 standings and they will be looking to record their third home win of the season when they square off against defending champions PSG at their Roazhon Park. Ivory Coast attacker Giovanni-Guy Yann Sio was sent off in the 1-1 draw with Lorient and in his absence a man to watch in the home team will be Juan Quintero. The Colombian ace has yet to open his goal-scoring account in the 2015/2021 Ligue 1 campaign, but he has provided one assist for his teammates.

Sio misses the match through suspension, while the likes of Costil, Cavare, Mexe and Ntep are all likely to miss the game with injury. Coach Philippe Montanier is likely to stick to the 4-4-2 formation.

Brilliant performance against Saint-Etienne

Paris Saint-Germain kicked off the new Ligue 1 campaign in great manner. Les Parisiens have been producing outstanding displays in the national championship of late and, as a result, they are leading the chase for the domestic trophy. The reigning champions outclassed Saint-Etienne (4-1) in their last league fixture and it has to be noted that the capital club created a number of clear-cut chances to score in the victory over les Verts. Laurent Blanc’s men aim to extend their winning run to six matches and, no doubt, les Parisiens will adopt an attack-minded approach in Friday’s game against Rennes. Zlatan Ibrahimovic found the net in the 4-1 win over Saint-Etienne and he is widely expected to lead the line for the visitors against Philippe Montanier’s team. The Swedish superstar has netted seven goals in seven appearances in the 2015/2021 Ligue 1 campaign to date.

David Luiz is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day. Laurent Blanc has no fresh injury worries ahead of the Rennes game. Summer signing Angel Di Maria is likely to keep his place in the starting line-up.

Rennes vs PSG betting tip

It has been almost two months since Rennes recorded their last win in the national championship and, with PSG next, the hosts are unlikely to put an end to the six-game winless run. On the other hand, the defending champions have been scoring goals for fun of late and seeing that Laurent Blanc has a full squad to choose from ahead of the trip to Rennes, I believe that there is a big value in betting on the capital club. In their last meeting in the Ligue 1 PSG recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Rennes.
