Monaco vs Bastia prediction

Stade Louis II will host Tuesday’s clash between Monaco and Bastia. Les Rouges et Blancs aim to strengthen their grip on second position in the Ligue 1 standings and it remains to be seen if les Bleus are capable of upsetting the hosts.

Heavy defeat to Angers

Monaco did well to crush Toulouse (4-0) in their last home fixture in Ligue 1, but they failed to impress in Saturday’s match against Angers. Les Rouges et Blancs suffered a 3-0 loss to Angers at Stade Jean Bouin, but they remained in second position in the standings. Leonardo Jardim’s men are eyeing a place in the Champions League and they will be looking to record their fifth home win of the season when they take on Bastia at their Stade Louis II on Matchday 24. Les Rouges et Blancs have been impressive at home ground of late and seeing that they scored 18 goals in previous five home fixtures in all competitions, it is no surprise the hosts are favourites on paper to emerge triumphant in Tuesday’s clash. Stephan El Shaarawy joined Roma in the January transfer window and, in his absence, Guido Carillo is likely to lead the line for the hosts against les Bleus.

The likes of Lemar, Toure, Lacina Traore, Adama Traore, Bahlouli, Echiejile, Cavaleiro and Toulalan are all sidelined with injury, but there are no suspended players in the home team.

Poor away record

Bastia are a team with two faces. Les Bleus have been impressive at home ground in 2016, but the team have been struggling on the travels of late. The mid-table side failed to score in previous two away games against PSG and Guingamp and it has to be noted that they have yet to record a win on the road this season. Bastia will have a big fish to fry in Tuesday’s clash against Monaco and, no doubt, the visitors will be happy with one point from the match. The visitors are likely to stick to their defensive style of play, but it remains to be seen if that kind of approach will prove fruitful this time out. It has to be noted that Bastia are hit by suspensions ahead of the visit of Monaco and that is the main reason why I am not tempted to put my money on the underdogs.

Seko Fofana, Yannick Cahuzac, Floyd Ayite and Gilles Cioni are all sidelined through suspension, whilst Florian Marange and Alexander Djiku both miss the Monaco game with injury. Brandao is widely expected to lead the attack for the away team.

Quick Facts

  • Monaco defeated Bastia in five of their last six meetings in Ligue 1
  • Les Rouges et Blancs suffered only one loss in previous 12 home fixtures
  • Monaco scored 1+ goals in each of their last nine home games in the league
  • Bastia netted one goal in previous four away matches in Ligue 1
  • Les Bleus are after their first ever league win at Stade Louis II

Monaco vs Bastia betting tip

Monaco are likely to leave their hearts on the field in Tuesday’s game against Bastia in order to bounce back from the heavy 3-0 loss to Angers. Les Rouges et Blancs have been impressive at their Stade Louis II this season and seeing that les Bleus are not regarded as good travelers, everything suggests that the visitors, who are hit by suspensions ahead of the Ligue 1 game, will return home empty-handed.
