Lorient vs Nice prediction

Tuesday’s match at Stade Yves Allainmat-Le Moustoir sees 6th-placed Nice take on 9th-placed Lorient on day 16 of the 2015/2021 Ligue 1 campaign. With only three points separating the two sides in the standings, we could see a very close encounter in Lorient.

Les Merlus eyeing fifth home win

Despite producing a good display against title holders PSG in their last home fixture, Lorient eventually suffered a 2-1 loss to les Parisiens at their Stade Yves Allainmat-Le Moustoir. Sylvain Ripoll’s team have suffered no more than one defeat in previous eight league matches and they sit in the top half of the table ahead of Tuesday’s match against Nice. Lorient head into the game following a 1-1 draw with Ajaccio and it has to be noted that top scorer Benjamin Moukandjo extended his goal-scoring run at the weekend. Les Merlus have been producing very good performances at their Stade Yves Allainmat-Le Moustoir and you should have in mind that the hosts are eyeing their fifth home win of the season. Aforementioned attacker Moukandjo is eager to extend his goal-scoring run and he will certainly pose a big threat for the opposition defenders.

The likes of Abdul Waris and Lamine Gassama both miss the match through suspension, but coach Sylvain Ripoll has no fresh injury worries ahead of the visit of Nice. Defender Vincent Le Goff is likely to be recalled to the starting line-up.

Ups and downs

Following back-to-back wins over the likes of Olympique Marseille and Olympique Lyon, Nice suffered a 2-0 loss to Toulouse in their last league fixture. Les Aiglons have been having their ups and downs of late, but, one thing is for sure: Claude Puel’s men are capable of making life difficult for every single side in the Ligue 1. Nice occupy sixth place in the standings ahead of Tuesday’s match against Lorient and a win over les Merlus could see the visitors climb to the Champions League berth. Les Aiglons have been scoring goals for fun on the road this season and it has to be noted that the team have already recorded four away fixtures in the 2015/2021 Ligue 1 campaign. Valere Germain has been in a fine form of late and you should have in mind that he managed to score in the wins over Marseille and Lyon. Anyhow, Claude Puel’s troops are likely to stick to their attacking style of play.

First-choice goalkeeper Mouez Hassen was sent off in the 2-0 loss to Toulouse, meaning that he will have to serve his ban against Lorient. The likes of Pouplin, Traore and Plea are all likely to miss the match with injury.

Lorient vs Nice betting tip

Lorient are a real force to be reckoned with at home and they are capable of matching top-table sides at their Stade Yves Allainmat-Le Moustoir. Les Merlus failed to record a win in previous two league matches and no doubt the hosts will go for a win in Tuesday’s clash against Nice. Les Aiglons, on the other hand, aim to make amends for the defeat to Toulouse and given Nice’s away record, I believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. In their last meeting in the Ligue 1 les Aiglons recorded a 3-1 win over les Merlus.
