Angers vs PSG prediction

It will be up to lowly Angers to try and stop red-hot Paris Saint-Germain in their tracks, with the hosts in excellent spirits having climbed to third in Ligue 1 after the 2-0 triumph over Lille. Meanwhile, the Saints boast a 13-point cushion at the top of the standings and are on the lookout for tenth successive league win.

Incredible start

Angers finished third in Ligue 2 last term to secure the return to elite division after 21 years, but not many people expected le SCO would be able to survive in the top flight. The club made no high-profile signings in the summer as the management opted to place faith into the same squad that played in the second division and that surprisingly proved a great decision. Angers were able to hit the ground running early on, with just one defeat in first eleven league fixtures seeing Stephane Moulin’s side create a considerable advantage over the bottom three. Le SCO did struggle over the last three or four weeks, having failed to register a single goal in four successive fixtures, but they then recorded a 2-0 victory over Lille at the weekend to return to the right track. Angers now sit pretty in third, 14 points clear of the relegation zone and it goes without saying they’ve got nothing to lose in the match against reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain. The hosts will probably attempt to keep the opposition at bay by adopting a defence-minded approach, but they could struggle to match the in-form Saints.

Coach Stephane Moulin has no fresh selection worries, but Bilel Moshni, Fode Dore and Slimane Sissoko are out injured.

Another league title in the bag?

With their title rivals getting weaker year after year and Paris Saint-Germain at least as strong as before if not stronger, the Ligue 1 title chase is quickly becoming both boring and predictable. The Saints have got to take part of ‘the blame’ as they take every game very seriously despite the fact that they are already 13 points clear at the league summit. Laurent Blanc is well aware that if his side are to mount a serious challenge in the Champions League, he will need his key men fully focused on Europe’s elite competition, meaning that the bigger their advnatage at the top of Ligue 1, the easier it will be for PSG to perform up to potential on European stage. While they were very unfortunate to lose to Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu, which remains the only setback in the last two months, the Saints have notched nine wins in a row in Ligue 1, scoring impressive 27 goals in the process. And even though they next opponents have been exceeding expectations this term, it is Angers players who should dread the upcoming match rather than Laurent Blanc’s charges.

Serge Aurier and Javier Pastore could be back in contention, but Ezequiel Lavezzi remains doubtful and Marco Verratti is out injured.

Angers vs PSG betting tip

Angers have shown a great deal of potential this season, but they have struggled for form of late and, therefore, cannot be trusted to stop red-hot PSG in their tracks. The Saints have been relentless on domestic stage and we fully expect their impressive run to continue.
