Sevilla vs Real Betis prediction

Al leyes will be on Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan when Sevilla and Real Betis, the two bitter rivals, face each other in the local derby. Unai Emery’s team aim to move a little closer to the European places, but los Beticos are on a three-game unbeaten run and they are certainly capable of upsetting their local rivals in the Seville derby.

Sevilla with one eye on the EL semis

Despite taking the lead in Wednesday’s clash against Sporting Gijon, Sevilla eventually suffered a 2-1 loss to the relegation-threatened team at Estadio Municipal El Molinon. Los Sevillanos missed a chance to record their first away of the season and it is more than obvious that they are low on confidence ahead of the Seville derby. Unai Emery’s team are on a five-match winless run in La Liga and they are five points behind the Europa League berth. Sevilla participated in the Champions League group stages earlier this season and they could retain their place in the elite competition by beating Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa League semis. Los Sevillanos are with one eye on Thursday’s clash against the Ukrainian outfit and coach Unai Emery could mix the squad against Real Betis.

The likes of Kevin Gameiro, Jose Antonio Reyes and Michael Krohn-Dehli should all recover in time to face Real Betis. Important midfielder Vitolo misses the match with injury, while defender Adil Rami is rated doubtful.

Fine form

Real Betis have been in a fine form of late. Los Beticos are on a three-game unbeaten run in La Liga and they will be looking to build on a hard-fought 1-0 win over ten-man Las Palmas when they take on Sevilla in Sunday’s local derby. Juan Merino is doing a great job with the Estadio Benito Villamarin outfit and he helped the team secure the elite division survival. Los Beticos have little to play for in Sunday’s local derby, but, as always, their pride will be at stake in the Seville derby. Real Betis have been struggling on the travels of late, but given Sevilla’s poor form, I would not be surprised if they manage to grab something from the match. A man to watch in the away team will be Real Betis attacker Ruben Castro, who has been scoring goals for fun this season.

Full back Montoya has overcome his injury and he is likely to be recalled to the starting line-up, while Juan Manuel Vargas remains on the sidelines. The likes of Damiao, Molina and Kadir have been left out of the squad.

Quick Facts

  • Sevilla recorded four wins in last five meetings with Real Bets
  • Los Beticos failed to score in last five encounters against Sevilla
  • Unai Emery’s men are after their 14th home win of the season
  • Real Betis conceded nine goals in last three away games in La Liga
  • Sevilla failed to keep a clean sheet in last three home matches

Sevilla vs Real Betis betting tip

Sevilla are a real force to be reckoned with at home and I believe that they are capable of starting a new winning run at their Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Key attacker Kevin Gameiro returns from injury and given that the hosts are five points behind the Europa League berth, I am tempted to put my money on Unai Emery’s troops.

Tip: Sevilla to win

Odds: 1.50 (1/2) @bet365
