Real Sociedad vs Atletico Madrid prediction

With pressure still on David Moyes’ shoulders, Real Sociedad are having a stern test ahead of them on Sunday as they prepare to welcome Atletico Madrid at Anoeta. Both teams have disappointed before the break and will look to turn their fortunes around.

Real Sociedad not giving up

Things are looking gloomy at the moment for Real Sociedad who are hovering closely above the relegation zone, with only two points more than the last-placed Granada FC. Moyes’ team have recorded only one win in seven games and former Everton and Manchester United manager will need a swift response from his players, most of all from Imanol Agirretxe who has been in outstanding form so far this term with five goals next to his name, scored in last three games for his team. He will need some help from the teammates and Moyes will certainly hope that the return of Inigo Martinez, Carlos Vela, Bruma and Diego Reyes will be a breath of fresh air in the following fixture. The four players are all fit and have been given all clear to play against Atletico Madrid, which will be a huge boost for the struggling and inconsistent La Real. Sociedad don’t have fond memories of their previous games against Atletico Madrid as they have only won two of their last 10 meetings and they have slim chances of changing the trend this time out as well. Disappointed by their defeat to Malaga before the break, Moyes’ players will need to work hard if they want to defeat Atletico Madrid.

David Moyes only has Raul Navas in the treatment room, and things are starting to look up in this department for the Scottish manager.

Griezmann returns home

It will be an emotional affair for Antoine Griezmann who returns to Anoeta, determined to take all three points from his former club. The France international has been the standard performer in Diego Simeone’s team this term and will hope to make an impact returning to San Sebastian and help his team get back to winning ways after some poor results in their last three games in all competitions. Los Colchoneros have had a solid start to the season, but were defeated by league leaders Villareal in La Liga and then immediately been beaten by Benfica in the Champions League. Madrid derby came as a slight consolation as Diego Simeone’s men fought bravely to halt Real Madrid who opened the scorings early in the game through Karim Benzema. Late goal from Luciano Vietto will have been a huge boost to the team’s morale and there is no doubt Atletico will give their best to get back on track against Sociedad. Fernando Torres has been in fine form lately and was voted player of the month by Atletico fans, so there is no doubt his newly-recovered form will be of great help in the upcoming fixture. The Spanish striker has scored only two goals so far but his all-round performances have been pretty impressive. Los Colchoneros will be hoping to continue the fine trend against Real Sociedad, as they have won five of their last six games at Anoeta in all competitions.

Diego Simeone will be without Luciano Vietto who is the only injured player for this game, but the Argentine manager is delighted to have his international players return to squad in full health.

Real Sociedad vs Atletico Madrid betting tip

Atletico Madrid have tradition on their side, along with the quality in their ranks which will be enough for Diego Simeone’s team to see off their Sunday rivals. Desperate in their need to get back in the title chase, Atletico Madrid will surely go hard from the kick off.
