Rayo Vallecano vs Eibar prediction

Saturday’s match at Estadio del Rayo Vallecano sees two out-of-form teams Rayo Vallecano and Eibar take on each other on Matchday 29. Rayo aim to escape the danger zone and it seems as if they will not have better chance than this to return to winning ways.

Attacking style of play – no results

Rayo Vallecano have been scoring goals for fun in 2016, but the team’s results have been anything but good in the second half of the season so far. The capital club are on a five-game winless run in La Liga and they head into the game against Eibar following a 2-1 loss to Espanyol. Paco Jemez was angry with his players after the match, but it has to be noted that Hernan Gonzalez scored a wonder goal for the Catalan outfit in Monday’s clash. Los Vallecanos now need to focus on Saturday’s game against Eibar as a triumph over the Basque outfit would see them move away from the relegation zone. Paco Jemez’s charges are a real force to be reckoned with at home and they have enough quality to record their sixth home win of the season.

Jose Angel Crespo and Raul Baena are both sidelined with injury, while midfielder Iturra returns from suspension. Razvan Rat remains in the recovery room, with Tono and Ebert missing the game through injury as well.

Four-game losing run

Eibar have been struggling to find their best form of late as well, with the team suffering a loss in each of their last four games in La Liga. As expected, the Basques suffered a heavy 4-0 loss to Barcelona at the weekend, but they should not be looking for points in the game against the title-chasing teams. Los Armeros are desperate to put an end to their four-match losing run in La Liga, but their top flight status is not in danger yet. Jose Luis Mendilibar’s troops failed to score in previous three league games and no doubt the visitors head into the Estadio del Rayo Vallecano clash with the lack of confidence. Eibar are not regarded as good travelers and they often struggle when they leave the Basque Country. Los Armeros conceded 12 goals in previous four away fixtures in La Liga and, taking everything into account, it is no surprise they are regarded as underdogs in Saturday’s game against Rayo.

Lillo Castellano is sidelined through suspension, while the likes of Ekiza, Jaime and Jota Peleteiro all miss the trip to Madrid with injury. Borja Baston is widely expected to lead the attack for the visitors against Rayo Vallecano.

Quick Facts

  • Rayo Vallecano conceded 2+ goals in each of their last five league matches
  • 13 goals were scored in Rayo’s previous three league games
  • Los Vallecanos are eyeing their seventh home win of the season
  • Eibar are on a four-match losing run on the road
  • Los Ameros failed to score in last three away games in the league

Rayo Vallecano vs Eibar betting tip

Both Rayo and Eibar are desperate to grab something from the game, but given that los Armeros struggle on the travels, I believe that the hosts are closer to picking up all three points from Saturday’s match in the Spanish capital. Paco Jemez’s men are capable of producing outstanding performances on home soil and I am tempted to put my money on the relegation-threatened team this time out.

Tip: Rayo Vallecano to win
