Levante vs Real Betis prediction

Levante recorded the morale-boosting win they needed last weekend as they hammered Sporting Gijon on the road and will now be looking to pile more misery on Real Betis. Los Verdiblancos have been underperforming since the start of the season and they arrive in Valencia without several important footballers.

Will they continue to overachieve?

Ahead of every season over the last five or six years, Levante were seen as one of the main candidates for the drop and yet los Granotes would escape the relegation battle with ease, even making it to the 2012/2013 Europa League and reaching the Last 16 stage. But, team’s performances this term have left a lot to be desired, and heavy defeats to Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and local rivals Valencia not only sent Levante into the relegation zone but also acted as major blows to the players’ confidence. Nevertheless, the team showed a great deal of charater by coming from a goal down to earn a draw with in-form Deportivo La Coruna before the 3-0 away victory over relegation rivals Sporting Gijon seriously lifted their spirits. Los Granotes will now be hoping to extend the decent home run that saw them lose just one of last five home matches (W1 D3), as even one point from weekend’s clash with Real Betis could see them escape the relegation zone.

Apart from the injured midfielder Ivan Lopez Mendoza, coach Rubi has absolutely no selection worries ahead of the visit of Real Betis.

Will the real Betis please stand up?

Real Betis did well to return to the elite division after spending just one campaign in Segunda, and the club chiefs showed ambition by luring the likes of Rafael van der Vaart, Juan Manuel Vargas and Heiko Westerman to Estadio Benito Villamarin. And when club icon Joaquin Sanchez decided to return to his boyhood club, the fans had a tough time of hiding the excitement ahead of the new season. But, with Van der Vaart, Westerman and Vargas all missing quite a few games through injury, Pepe Mel’s side just could not find their form early on and it is not that surprising that the fans are demanding better performances and results. Even so, the good news is that Rafa van der Vaart and Heiko Westerman are now back in action, while the Chilean winger should be back soon, and the team did manage to show decent improvement in recent weeks. The away win over Malaga was followed by a very good performance in the unfortunate home defeat to Atletico Madrid and I do believe that los Verdiblancos stand a decent chance of avoiding defeat in Valencia.

Goalkeeper Antonio Adan and midfielder Didier Digard both picked up injuries against Atletico Madrid, and while the Frenchman did not make the squad, his teammate is a major doubt. Vincenzo Rennella and Amro Tarek continue to miss out.

Levante vs Real Betis betting tip

Having recorded three draws in last five home games, Levante cannot exactly be considered favourites in this match, especially since Real Betis have been showing steady improvement. Neither team look capable of outclassing the opposition, so my advice is to bet on draw.
