Deportivo La Coruna vs Atletico Madrid prediction

Round ten of the Spanish top flight will be opened at Riazor on Friday night when the home side Deportivo La Coruna take on title contenders Atletico Madrid, looking to end their three-game winless streak.

Deportivo falling behind

Having won only two points in last three games of the Spanish top flight, Deportivo La Coruna have failed to catch up with Villarreal and Celta Vigo, and are currently occupying the sixth place in the standings, four points short of the European spots. Back-to-back draws against Granada away (1-1) and Athletic Bilbao at home (2-2) were followed by the 2-0 defeat at Malaga last time out which was their second loss of the season and Victor Sanchez’ troops are desperate to turn their fortunes around. It will be easier said than done considering that they are locking horns with one of the most dangerous sides in La Liga. Deportivo manager will be hoping his brightest star this season Lucas Perez will be able to continue his fine form and help the team record a positive result in the upcoming fixture. The 27-year-old has been in impressive form this season, scoring six goals so far and matching his tally from the entire 2014-15 campaign for the Galician club who have struggled all the way through last season, securing their stay in the Spanish top flight on the final day.

Victor Sanchez is faced with a long list of injured players. Second-choice goalkeeper Fabri has been a long-term absentee with his knee injury, while Deportivo’s most recent injured players are Luisinho, Luis Alberto and Alejandro Arribas.

Atletico aiming for the top

Los Colchoneros have successfully overcome yet another challenge in their run for the top, having beaten Valencia 2-1 at home to secure their third consecutive win in all competitions. Diego Simeone’s men triumphed thanks to the goals from Jackson Martinez and summer arrival Yannick Ferreira to overtake Celta for the third spot in the standings and the trip to Deportivo will be a great chance to close the gap behind Real Madrid and Barcelona, and even to grab hold of the first place. Great deal of attention will be placed upon the performance of Jackson Martinez who will look to improve his goalscoring record. The Colombian striker took time to adapt to his new surroundings and had plenty of problems at the start of his life in Madrid, but has found his pace in recent games having scored twice in as many games across competitions. Diego Simeone is likely to pair the Colombian with Antoine Griezmann who has been in superb form this season. The French forward netted four goals in nine league games this season, but his overall performances have been nothing short of amazing.

Manager Simeone will be pleased to have all of his first-team choices available, with the exception of the striker Luciano Vietto who remains sidelined with his gastric problems.

Deportivo La Coruna vs Atletico Madrid betting tip

The Friday rivals are in contrasting form, with the hosts coming off from their three-game winless streak and the visitors having as many straight triumphs. Atletico Madrid are hoping to make it four in a row at Riazor, in a game which will allow Diego Simeone’s charges to sit top of the league. I fully expect them to grab their chance.
