Celta vs Real Sociedad prediction

Celta Vigo will be looking to bounce back from a heavy 7-1 loss to Real Madrid when they take on Real Sociedad at their Estadio de Balaidos on Saturday evening. Os Celeste are eyeing a place in the European competitions, but the Basques should not be underestimated.

The Santiago Bernabeu nightmare

Despite the fact that Real Madrid played without several first-team regulars in Saturday’s clash against Celta Vigo, Os Celeste failed to make life difficult for the Spanish giants. Los Blancos demolished Celta 7-1 and no doubt, the Galicians will give their best to recover from the defeat. Eduardo Berizzo’s troops want to book their place in European competitions, but they need to keep on making progress if they are to meet the goal. The most important thing for Eduardo Berizzo is that he can count on all of his key players for the Real Sociedad game, but a man to watch in the home team will be Nolito, who has recently overcome from his injury. Os Celeste are on a four-game unbeaten run at home in La Liga and they are definitely capable of picking up at least one point from Saturday’s game against La Real.

Tucu Hernandez suffered a serious injury and he will be out of contention for four weeks, while defender Andreu Fontas remains in the recovery room. Eduardo Berizzo has no other selection worries ahead of the visit of La Real.

Promising performance against Levante

Real Sociedad did share the spoils with Levante at their “Anoeta” at the weekend, but it has to be noted that the Basque team missed a number of clear-cut chances in Sunday’s La Liga game. Eusebio Sacristan’s troops failed to turn their dominance into more goals, but the team seem to be at the top of their game at the moment and nothing else matters. Saturday’s game against Celta Vigo, though, will be anything but a walk in the park for the visitors, but only one thing is for sure: La Real will leave their hearts on the field in order to try and grab something from the Estadio de Balaidos clash. A man to watch in the away team will be Portuguese attacker Bruma, who is likely to start this time out after coming as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Levante.

Carlos Vela is banned (by the club) and he will definitely miss the match, while the likes of Bergara, Martinez, Canales and Zurutuza are all out of contention through injury. Former Real Madrid man Esteban Granero should be recalled to the starting line-up.

Quick Facts

  • Celta Vigo are on a seven-game unbeaten run at home in all competitions
  • Os Celeste are undefeated in previous four meetings with La Real
  • Real Sociedad scored 1+ goals in each of their last ten meetings with Celta
  • Eusebio Sacristan’s men are eyeing their fifth away win of the season
  • Over 2.5 goals were scored in five of Real Sociedad’s last six away matches

Celta Vigo vs Real Sociedad betting tip

Real Sociedad produced a very good performance against Levante, but they were more than unfortunate not to beat los Levantinos at home ground. Celta Vigo, on the other hand, aim to make amends for the loss to Real Madrid and a lively contest appears on the cards. In previous five meetings between the two teams 22 goals were scored and, taking everything into account, both teams to score bet should be considered.

Tip: Both teams to score

Odds: 1.75 (3/4) @bet365
