Celta Vigo vs Real Betis prediction

Saturday’s match at Estadio de Balaidos pits together Celta Vigo and Real Betis, the two teams who have entirely different ambitions in the season finale. Os Celeste are eyeing a place in European competitions, while los Beticos aim to secure yet another La Liga survival.

Splendid form

After recording back-to-back wins over the likes of Real Sociedad and Valencia, Celta Vigo shared the spoils with Deportivo La Coruna in the Galician derby on Matchday 31. However, Os Celeste quickly returned to winning ways, with the team beating relegation strugglers Sporting Gijon at “El Molinon” at the weekend. Eduardo Berizzo is doing a great job with the Estadio de Balaidos outfit and he is eager to help the team secure their place in the Europa League. Celta sit in fifth place in the La Liga standings and they have been producing thrilling displays in the national championship ever since key player Nolito returned from injury. Nolito scored the winner in the victory over Sporting Gijon, meaning that the opposition defenders should have the former Benfica ace at bay on Saturday evening. Os Celeste suffered their last defeat at home on 16 January and it is no surprise they are regarded as favourites to win Saturday’s game against los Beticos.

Hugo Mallo suffered an injury and he has joined Andreu Fontas in the recovery room. Coach Eduardo Berizzo, though, has no other fresh injury worries ahead of the visit of Real Betis.

Important win over Levante

Real Betis desperately needed a win over Levante at the weekend and they got one. Los Beticos finally gave fans some cheer, but they do not want to stop now. The Andalusian outfit are nine points clear of the relegation zone ahead of the trip to Galicia and they certainly want to get their job done (survival) as soon as possible. Juan Merino’s men did put an end to their three-game losing run at the weekend, but they now aim to record a win on the road after suffering two heavy defeats to the likes of Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid in previous two away fixtures. Ruben Castro has been producing outstanding displays this season; he helped los Beticos pick up all three points from the game against Levante and all eyes will be on him when the Andalusian side take on Celta at Estadio de Balaidos on Saturday.

Didier Digard will be two weeks out of contention with injury, while Jorge Molina is likely to miss the game through suspension. Rafael van der Vaart is yet another absentee in the away team.

Quick Facts

  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in Celta’s last four league games
  • Os Celeste are on a nine-match unbeaten run at home ground
  • Real Betis recorded only one win in last 11 away games
  • Los Beticos conceded 10 goals in last four away matches
  • 11 goals were scored in previous three meetings between the two teams

Celta Vigo vs Real Betis betting tip

Celta Vigo are eager to participate in European competitions next season and seeing that coach Eduardo Berizzo can count on all of his key players for Saturday’s game against Real Betis, I believe that the hosts are likely to pick up all three points from the match. Los Beticos struggle on the travels and they are likely to return home empty-handed.

Tip: Celta/Celta to win
