Atletico Madrid vs Deportivo La Coruna prediction

Atletico will be looking for their fifth consecutive triumph in La Liga in the forthcoming clash against Deportivo. The Colchoneros have been successful in their previous nine attempts, so they hope for a tenth straight win against Depor.

Atletico want to keep the safe distance from Real

Fernando Torres was Atletico’s hero in the triumph against Valencia last weekend. The former Liverpool and Chelsea forward made immediate impact after coming from the bench and secured a fourth consecutive triumph for Diego Simeone’s charges in La Liga. In this way, the Colchoneros managed to keep the gap between them and Barcelona intact, while staying four points adrift from Real. In order to keep the distance, Vicente Calderon outfit need a triumph against Depor this Saturday night. That should not present such a difficult task, since Victor’s charges became regular customers in Madrid, with nine straight defeats. Antoine Griezmann, who has been scoring for fun of late, will once again lead the attack, possibly alongside Torres, who upgraded his performance in recent matches. Their rock-solid defense conceded just once in their last six matches in all competitions, and I expect them to shine once more against the Branquiazuis.

Diego Simeone will be without the likes of Stefan Savic (calf muscle strain) and Tiago (broken shinbone), who will not return to the squad until the end of the season.

Deportivo still looking for a triumph

Victor Sanchez’s men were minutes away from their first La Liga victory in twelve matches in the breathtaking clash against Malaga, but a late own goal from Deportivo’s Alejandro Arribas sent los Boquerones home with a point in the bag (3-3). Such an outcome most certainly affected the morale of the team, and the trip to Madrid comes in the worst possible moment. Deportivo continued their downfall in the overall standings. The Galicians now sit in the 13th place, but chances are they could go deeper if they record another defeat against Atletico, with Espanyol and Las Palmas breathing down their necks. Their away form is not something to brag about, with just two earned points since the beginning of 2016. Depor’s forwards seem rather futile when playing on the road, while the defenders managed to record a single clean sheet in their last seven away fixtures. With these below par performances, the Riazor outfit surely cannot expect much from their next fixture.

Juan Dominguez (hamstring), Sidnei (thigh), Cani (hamstring) and Fabri (knee) will not be available for the upcoming clash, as they are still recovering from their injuries.

Quick Facts

  • Atletico are on an eight-game undefeated run against Depor
  • The Colchoneros won their last nine clashes against the Branquiazuis at Vicente Calderon
  • Diego Simeone’s charges lost a single home match in La Liga this term
  • Deportivo still wait for their first triumph since mid-December (D8 L6)
  • Victor’s men failed to win in their last seven league fixtures on the road

Atletico Madrid vs Deportivo La Coruna betting tip

Taking under consideration current forms of both teams, I can honestly say Atletico will most certainly take all three points in the upocming encounter against Deportivo. In their previous seven visits, los Branquiazuis netted a single goal, and I do not believe they are capable of producing much trouble to Jan Oblak this time out. This is why I will put my money on the hosts.

Tip: Atletico/Atletico
