Germany vs Slovakia Team News
Tony Kroos made Germany Euro 2021 provisional squad, but he misses the Slovakia friendly due to club commitments. Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is sidelined with a knee injury, while Bayern Munich defender Joshua Kimmich could make his Germany debut against Slovakia. Kevin Trapp, Mathias Ginter, Marcel Schmelzer, Christoph Kramer, Kevin Volland and Max Kruse have been omitted. Mats Hummels suffered an injury in the German Cup final and he is unlikely to be risked against Slovakia, but Jerome Boateng has overcome his injury.
Injured: Ilkay Gundogan (16/4)
Doubtful: Mats Hummels (46/4)
Suspended: None
Robert Vittek, who has netted 23 goals for the Slovakia national team so far, remains in the recovery room, but coach Jan Kozak has no fresh injury worries ahead of the game. Adam Nemec scored a brace in a 3-1 win over Georgia and he is likely to keep his place up front. Matus Bero and Milan Skriniar made their Slovakia debuts on Friday. Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel was rested against Georgia, but he is likely to be recalled to the starting XI. Marek Hamsik, Jan Durica and Juraj Kucka should return as well.
Injured: Robert Vittek (81/23)
Doubtful: None
Suspended: None
Quick Facts
- Germany are after their third consecutive win over Slovakia
- Joachim Low’s men failed to keep a clean sheet in previous six home matches
- Slovakia scored 2+ goals in four of their last five away matches
- Jan Kozak’s men are on a six-game unbeaten run at the moment
- Over 3.5 goals were scored in five of Slovakia’s last six games
Germany vs Slovakia Prediction
Both Germany and Slovakia will take part at the 2016 European Championship finals. Die Adler are regarded as one of the main favourites to lift the trophy and the showpiece tournament in France and they can’t afford any complacency in Sunday’s friendly against Jan Kozak’s troops. The Germans are a real force to be reckoned with at home and they should score against Slovakia, but given that Jan Kozak welcomes his key players back to the squad, both teams to score bet should be considered.
Betting Pick: Both teams to score
