Romania vs Lithuania prediction

Stadionul Marin Anastasovici will host Wednesday’s friendly game between Romania and Lithuania. The Tricolorii proved their worth in a 2-2 draw with Italy and they will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on the former Soviet republic in their second warm-up game.

Rock-solid defence

Romania did remarkably well to finish their Euro 2021 qualifying campaign in fourth place in Group F. The Tricolorii have big ambitions for the upcoming tournament in France, but coach Anghel Iordanescu will certainly use March friendlies to test as many players as possible. The Romanians played out a 2-2 draw with Italy in their first warm-up game and they will be looking to build on the performance when they take on Lithuania on Wednesday evening. Thanks to the draw with the Azzurri Romania extended their unbeaten run to 15 games and it has to be noted that they have been impressive at the back under Anghel Iordanescu. The team managed to keep five clean sheets in previous seven games and they will definitely rely on their rock-solid defence in the game against the Lithuanians. Bogdan Stancu, who scored in the 2-2 draw with Antonio Conte’s troops, is likely to lead the attack for the hosts.

Coach Anghel Iordanescu has left the likes of Alexandru Chipciu, Cristian Tanase and Alexandru Maxim out of the squad, with Florin Tanase from Viitorul Constanta stepping up. Adrian Ropotan has been called up as well and he should play some part in Wednesday’s game against Lithuania.

Lithuania kick-off their preparations for Baltic Cup

As expected, Lithuania failed to qualify for the 2016 European Championship finals, with the team recording three wins, one draw and six defeats in Group E. Igoris Pankratjevas paid price for the unsuccessful campaign, with Edgaras Jankauskas taking over the reins. The new boss is eager to mark his debut with a win over Romania in Wednesday’s friendly, but beating the Tricolorii at Stadionul Marin Anastasovici is easier said than done. The Lithuanians aim to prepare in the best possible way for the upcoming Baltic Cup where they will face the likes of Estonia and Latvia and you should know that they will take on Russia in yet another March friendly. The former Soviet republic registered only one win in previous eleven games.

Arturas Rimkevicius misses the match with injury, while Espanyol goalkeeper Giedrius Arlauskis has been left out of the squad. Emilijus Zubas is likely to start in goal, while Ernestas Veliulis could make his Lithuania debut against Romania. Coach Edgaras Jankauskas has decided to call up just two attackers: Deivydas Matulevicius (Botosani) and Lukas Spalvis (Aalborg).

Romania vs Lithuania betting tip

Romania are favourites on paper to win Wednesday’s friendly against Lithuania, but the Tricolorii will have to prove their worth on the field.
