Reading vs Crystal Palace prediction

A place in the FA Cup semis will be at stake when Reading and Crystal Palace take on each other at Madejski Stadium on Friday night. The Royals have been impressive in the FA Cup so far, but they will have a big fish to fry in the game against Alan Pardew’s troops.

Royals scoring goals for fun in FA Cup

Reading impressed in the 2014/2015 FA Cup campaign, with the team reaching the semi-finals of the competition. The Royals were beaten by Arsenal in the semis last term and they want to cross one hurdle more this time out. Brian McDermott’s troops have been impressive in the FA Cup this season, with the team outclassing the likes of Huddersfield Town, Walsall and West Bromwich Albion in the process. Reading take on Crystal Palace in Saturday’s quarter-final and no doubt the Championship side are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. The Royals are on a six-game unbeaten run at their Madejski Stadium in the Championship and they are certainly capable of upsetting the Eagles in front of home fans. Former Vitesse ace scored in the 3-1 win over WBA and he will be one of the men to watch in the home team.

Coach Brian McDermott has no fresh injury worries ahead of the visit of Crystal Palace and he is likely to field the best possible side against the Premier League trophy.

Three impressive wins

Crystal Palace have been producing thrilling performances in the FA Cup as well, with the team beating the likes of Southampton, Stoke City and Tottenham Hotspur on their way to the quarter-finals. The Eagles, though, have been struggling to find their form in the Premier League of late and they are on a three-game winless run in the national championship ahead of the trip to Reading. Alan Pardew’s troops suffered a 2-1 loss to Liverpool at the weekend, with Christian Benteke scoring the winner for the Reds in the dying seconds of the clash. Crystal Palace have been struggling at the back of late and seeing that the team conceded seven goals in previous three league games, quality of the team’s defence will be tested in Friday’s FA Cup clash. Emmanuel Adebayor is likely to lead the line for the visitors against Reading and it remains to be seen if he is capable of starting a new-goal scoring run.

James McArthur is sidelined with an ankle injury, while Connor Wickham is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day. Jason Puncheon should recover in time to face Reading.

Quick Facts

  • Reading have netted 12 goals in the process so far
  • Royals are after their third ever FA Cup semi-final
  • Crystal Palace conceded 2+ goals in each of their last three league games
  • Eagles recorded one win on the road in previous six away fixtures
  • The two sides played out a 2-2 draw win their last meeting at Madejski Stadium

Reading vs Crystal Palace betting tip

Reading have been producing splendid display at their Madejski Stadium this season and they are widely expected to extend their goal-scoring run at home ground. Crystal Palace have been playing some entertaining games of late and considering that Alan Pardew’s men are likely to adopt an attack-minded approach in Friday’s FA Cup game, a high-scoring affair appears on the cards. Taking everything into account, both teams to score bet should be considered.

Tip: Both teams to score
