Everton vs Manchester United prediction

Both Martinez and van Gaal hope for a trophy in the FA Cup in order to save their seasons, since both of them suffer a lot of pressure. Manchester United are looking for their first Cup trophy since 2004, while Everton have not won the Cup since 1995.

Roberto Martinez under serious pressure

The Spanish tactician saw his team get humiliated by the Reds in the Merseyside derby, and will have a lot of trouble to recuperate his demoralized charges in time for the clash against Manchester United. Everton have been going through a rough patch of late, and many of the fans blame Martinez for such a state of their bellowed team. The forthcoming clash is maybe his last chance for surviving at the helm of the Toffees, but the current form of Goodison Park outfit does not allow him to feel confident about the possible positive outcome. Half of his defense is out injured, while the offensive line have been struggling in front of opposition goals of late. Romelu Lukaku is completely out of form and he was nowhere to be seen against Liverpool, while Ross Barkley is on a ten-game barren run. However, both of them have been particularly impressive in the FA Cup this term and if they have their night, anything is possible.

Ramiro Funes Mori will be sidelined due to suspension. Gareth Barry suffered an injury in the clash against Liverpool, so he is a doubt, as well as Seamus Coleman and John Stones, while Phil Jagielka will certainly miss the match.

Van Gaal believes they are better than last year

Van Gaal also has issues with the fans, since Manchester United’s supporters believe the Dutch manager is to blame for a boring style of play the Red Devils have been displaying this season. Having crashed out of the Champions League and the Europa League, while still being far from a top-four berth in the Premiership, the FA Cup title could present the biggest accomplishment of the season. Louis van Gaal is convinced his team is way better than in the previous season, when they were stopped in the quarter-finals, and that they could go all the way this term. Old Trafford outfit already defeated their forthcoming opponents two times this season, the second less than twenty days ago, without conceding a single goal in the process. Strong defense is their biggest weapon, while it is expected that Martial and Rashford will exploit the vulnerability of Everton’s drafty defenders.

Adnan Januzaj is back in training after his injury, but could miss this game. Bastian Schweinsteiger and Luke Shaw are in the recovery room, as well as William Keane and Sean Goss.

Quick Facts

  • United won five of their last six matches in all competitions
  • The Toffees are on a six-game winless run
  • Everton netted just two goals in the spell
  • Martinez will have trouble to assemble the defensive line
  • The Red Devils won both of their league encounters this term

Everton vs Manchester United betting tip

Taking under consideration the importance of the match, I do not reckon we will witness a lot of fireworks, but a tough, tactical, low-scoring battle. However, the current form of both teams drive me to a conclusion that the Red Devils will emerge victorious, so I will bet on Manchester United.

Tip: Manchester United to win
