Head to head record

Monaco vs Qarabag 1-0 (2015/2021 Europa League)

Qarabag vs Monaco prediction

In-form Monaco will be aiming to extend their winning run to four matches in all competitions when they they take on Qarabag at Tofiq Behramov adina Respublika a stadionu on Thursday evening. The Ligue 1 side want to cement top position in Group J, but the match against the Azerbaijani team will be anything but a walk in the park for the visitors.

Qarabag hungry for revenge

Qarabag failed to beat Celtic in the Champions League qualifiers and, as a result, they participate in the Europa League group stages in the 2015/2021 campaign. The Azerbaijani team did well to beat Anderlecht at home ground (1-0), but the team suffered defeats to the likes of Tottenham and Monaco on the road. Qurban Qurbanov’s men are leading the chase for the domestic trophy and they head into Thursday’s match against Monaco following back-to-back wins over the likes of Ravan and AZAL. The team obviously struggle on the travels, but you should have in mind that Qarabag are after their fifth consecutive home win at home ground in all competitions. A win over Monaco could see Qurban Qurbanov’s side climb to top position in Group J and, no doubt, the hosts are eager to get their revenge on the Ligue 1 team for the 1-0 loss at Stade Louis II.

Coach Qurban Qurbanov has no fresh injury worries ahead of the Monaco game and he is likely to field the best possible side against the Ligue 1 side. Kristiano Armenteros should lead the attack for the hosts.

Monaco rock solid at the back

Despite the fact that Monaco chiefs sold several important players in the last few transfer windows, les Rouges et Blancs have been producing fine performances in the Ligue 1 this season. The team sit in sixth place in the standings and they are still in the race for a place in the Champions League. On the other hand, Leonardo Jardim’s troops sit in top position in the Europa League Group J and they will be looking to retain first place with yet another victory over Qarabag when the two sides take on each other in Baku on Thursday evening. Monaco have been impressive at the back of late, with the team keeping a clean sheet in each of previous three matches in all competitions. The Ligue 1 team will surely rely on their rock-solid defence in the clash against the Azerbaijani side, but the in-form visitors are capable of finding the net in Thursday’s Europa League game. A man to watch in the away team will be Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho.

Wallace misses the match through suspension, whilst Helder Costa, Fares Bahlouli, Adama Traore, Thomas Lemar, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Fabio Coentrao all miss the trip to Baku with injury.

Qarabag vs Monaco betting tip

Both Qarabag and Monaco are still in the race for a place in the Europa League knockout stages and seeing that only two points separate the two teams in the standings, there is every chance we will see a close encounter in Baku. Les Rouges et Blancs have been impressive at the back of late and considering that the Azerbaijani team are tough to beat at home, I am tempted to put my money on under 2.5 goals this time out. Taking everything into account, one goal should separate the two sides at Tofiq Behramov adina Respublika a stadionu on Thursday.

Tip: Under 2.5 goals

Odds: 1.54 (27/50) @Unibet
