Augsburg vs Liverpool prediction

Augsburg want to record a historical triumph against an English team in their maiden Europa League appearance. Jurgen Klopp is returning to Germany looking for a positive outcome. Judging by his previous results at WWK ARENA, we are up for a treat in the forthcoming clash.

Augsburg have been suffering from a dip in form

The Fuggerstädter already made history with an amazing triumph over Partizan in the last round of the Group Stage (3-1). The Bavarians went from rags to riches with Bobadilla’s fantastic goal in the dying moments of the game, which allowed the Germans to enter the knockout stage. The fact is that Augsburg achieved more than hoped for, so now they can enter the forthcoming encounter pressure-free. Markus Weinzierl’s men are without a win in their previous four Bundesliga fixtures, they have been producing below-par displays of late. Taking under consideration that they suffered two defeats on home turf in the Europa League this term, it becomes obvious that Liverpool are not without chances in this match. Even so, the Bavarians will not be an easy meet for the Reds, since they have the Europa League top scorer in their lines. Raul Bobadilla (6) have created much joy for Augzburg’s fans this season, and will most certainly present a handful to Klopp’s defenders, if he recovers from his ankle injury in time.

Markus Weinzierl will be without the likes of Hong Jeon-Ho (ankle), Klavan (head), Schuster (groin), Werner (groin), while the abovementioned Bobadilla has ankle issues, but he will most certainly recover for the clash.

Liverpool are still to taste the bitterness of defeat

The Reds are unbeaten in Europe this season, but are far from a convincing form in the Europa League, with just two triumphs and four draws. Even so, Liverpool recorded a morale-boosting victory at the hands of Aston Villa in the Premiership last weekend, and are awaiting the forthcoming encounter in high spirits. Jurgen Klopp knows how to play against Augsburg, given his 5-3-1 record while at Borussia Dortmund and will most certainly apply the winning recipe this time out. Truth being told, this game will be anything but a walk in the park for the Anfield outfit, but they are more than capable of recording a positive result. The Reds failed to advance to the last 16 in their previous two attempts against Besiktas (2014/2016) and FC Zenit (2012/2013), and they hope that the third time is a charm. Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino are expected to lead the attack, and the fans hope at least one of them to deliver.

Philippe Coutinho, (hamstring), Joe Gomez (knee), Danny Ings (knee) and Mamadou Sakho (knee) will miss the clash at WWK ARENA, since they are all in the recovery room.

Augsburg vs Liverpool betting tip

Both teams will be looking to record a positive result before the remach next week. I wouldn’t dare to pick a shure winner, since the game could easily go either way. Relying on the statistics, I will put my money on both teams to score in this meeting.

Tip: Both teams to score
