Team News

Genclerbirligi forward Bogdan Stancu (34/8) returns to the squad after missing the September qualifiers, but Southampton defender Florin Gardos (14/0) remains a long-term casualty.

Coach Anghel Iordanescu has again left out some high-profile players, including Cristian Tanase (41/6), Ciprian Marica (72/25), Dorin Goian (60/5) and Laszlo Sepsi (4/0).

According to the latest reports, the national team boss has decided to adopt an attack-minded approach against Finland, with Mihal Pintilii likely to be the only defence-minded midfielder in the starting line-up.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Tatarusanu – Matel, Chiriches, Grigore, Rat – Pintilii, Sanmartean – Torje, Stancu, Chipciu – Keseru.

Important players Niklas Moisander (50/2), Roman Eremenko (68/5) and Rasmus Schuller (11/0) have all been recalled to the Finland squad, although Eremenko was later forced to withdraw due to groin injury.

Juhani Ojala (14/0) and Berat Sadik (10/1) have in turn been added to the roster, but there have been even more problems for coach Markku Kanerva.

While key midfielder Tim Sparv (49/1) misses out through suspension, talented forward Tim Vayrynen is out of both qualifiers through a knee injury, with Panathinaikos footballer Robin Lod (3/0) drafted as his replacement.
