Kyle Lafferty (44/15) scored the final goal in the 3-1 win over Northern Ireland before admitting the lack of match sharpness and possibility of being suspended for the Hungary game had hindered his performance.

The Norwich City striker will continue up front, whereas Michael McGovern (5/0) has now established himself as a first choice keeper for the country, taking over from Roy Carroll (41/0).

Jamie Ward and Ben Reeves both withdrew from the squad through injury, but Chris Brunt and Steven Davis shook off problems to start against Faroe Islands.

Team News:

Just as we have predicted, Hungary played out a goalless draw with Romania on the road, and thus all but secured a play-off berth, although they now hope to beat Northern Ireland and edge closer to automatic qualifying berth.

Coach Bernd Storck will have key player Zoltan Gera (82/24) back to the side after he missed the clash in Bucharest through suspension, but starting defender Ronald Juhasz (88/6) suffered an injury in said match and is now out of contention.

He will be replaced by Richard Guzmics (8/0), whereas QPR midfielder Daniel Tozser (30/1) misses out having picked up the third yellow card of the campaign. Uncapped midfielder David Markvart has been added to the squad.

Players to watch: Balasz Dzsudzsak, Zoltan Gera.

Probable starting line-up (4-2-3-1): Kiraly – Fiola, Guzmics, Kadar, Leandro – Elek, Nagy – Stieber, Gera, Dzsudzsak – Nikolic.
