Youngsters Halilovic (7/0), Rog (1/0), Pasalic (2/0) and Simunovic (0/0) have been left out of the Croatia squad for Euro 2021 qualifiers to help the Under-21 side, whereas Hajduk Split starlet Mijo Caktas is in line to win his first cap.

Key midfielder Luka Modric picked up an ankle injury playing for Real Madrid at the weekend, but the problem is not too serious and he should be in the starting line-up in Baku, with Marcelo Brozovic and Dejan Lovren shaking off minor problems as well. Captain Darijo Srna (123/21) is suspended.

Croatia players are aware they will not have an easy job in Azerbaijan in spite of the 6-0 win in the first meeting between the two sides, but a victory would see them all but secure a place at the tournament finals.

Azerbaijan v Croatia betting odds & tips

*With mere three goals scored in Azerbaijan’s last three qualifiers, bear in mind that under 2.5 goals pays 1.85 (17/20).
