Lille vs Bordeaux prediction

A place in the Coupe de la Ligue final will be at stake when Lille and Bordeaux at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Tuesday night. The two teams meet for the second time in just ten days and it remains to be seen if les Dogues are capable of getting their revenge on les Girondins.

Embarrassing defeat to Troyes

Despite taking the lead in Saturday’s Ligue 1 game against Troyes, Lille eventually suffered a shocking 3-1 loss to the rock-bottom side. Les Dogues have yet to record a win in 2016, speaking of league matches, but, on the other hand, they did well to beat Guingamp on penalties in the Coupe de la Ligue quarter-finals. Coach Frederic Antonetti certainly feels pressure ahead of Tuesday’s game against Bordeaux and no doubt he is going to field the best possible side against les Girondins. Lille are after their first ever Coupe de la Ligue final, but given their poor form, I do not believe that home win should be considered this time out. Les Dogues are on a three-match losing run in all competitions and you should have in mind that they suffer an upsetting loss to CFA team Trelissac in the Coupe de France earlier in January.

Mike Maignan and Marko Basa both miss the game with injury, whilst Sofiane Boufal is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day. Coach Frederic Antonetti has no other injury concerns ahead of the visit of Bordeaux.

Good form

Bordeaux set up a meeting with Lille in the Coupe de la Ligue semi-finals by beating the likes of Monaco and Lorient. Les Girondins have been impressive in the competition so far, having scored five goals in the process, without conceding. Willy Sagnol’s team have been making progress week by week and seeing that they have yet to suffer a loss in 2016, I would not be surprised if they make it to the Coupe de la Ligue final. Bordeaux played put a 2-2 draw with Nantes at the weekend and it is more than obvious that the team started scoring on consistent basis. Les Girondins are undefeated in previous five away fixtures in all competitions and that is certainly giving the fans a reason for optimism ahead of the trip to Lille. Cheick Diabate has found his scoring boots of late, but seeing that he misses the match with injury, Enzo Crivelli will be deployed up front as centre forward.

The likes of Pablo, Jussie, Carrasco, Maulun, Sertic, Maurice-Belay, Diabate and Gajic are all sidelined with injury, while Nicolas Pallois is sidelined through suspension.

Quick Facts

  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in previous five meetings between the two teams
  • Lille suffered only one loss in last seven home games
  • Les Dogues scored 1+ goals in each of their previous nine home matches
  • Les Girondins scored only one goal in previous three meetings with Lille
  • Bordeaux scored 1+ goals in each of their past five away games

Lille vs Bordeaux betting tip

Lille are desperate to give fans something to cheer about following the shocking loss to Troyes and, no doubt, the hosts will go all guns blazing at Bordeaux in Tuesday’s Coupe de la Ligue game. Les Girondins have been in a fine form of late, but seeing that coach Willy Sagnol has a number of selection worries ahead of the match, I am not tempted to put my money on the visitors. Anyhow, they have been impressive in front of goal of late, meaning that both teams to score bet should be considered.

Tip: Both teams to score
