Sochaux vs Marseille prediction

A place in the Coupe de France final will be at stake when Sochaux and Marseille take on each other at Stade Auguste-Bonal on Wednesday evening. The Ligue 2 side are eager to claim yet another major scalp in the process, but the OM will give their best to save the season by winning the French Cup title.

Monaco, Nantes – are Marseille next?

The 2015/2016 campaign has been a mixed bag for Sochaux so far. Albert Cartier’s men have been producing thrilling performances in the French Cup, with the team beating Monaco and Nantes in previous two rounds, but they have been struggling in the Ligue 2 this season. The team’s main goal is to secure the Ligue 2 survival, but, no doubt, they will give their all to upset Olympique Marseille in the French Cup semis on Wednesday evening. Sochaux have been in a fine form of late and they will be aiming to build on back-to-back wins over the likes of Laval and Brest when they take on Marseille at their Stade Auguste-Bonal. A man to watch in the home team will be Toko Okambi, who has found his scoring boots of late and it remains to be seen if the Cameroon attacker is going to find the net for the third time in a row.

Coach Albert Cartier is unlikely to make too many changes to the team that defeated Brest at the weekend, but the likes of Berenguer and Sao are both pushing for a start.

Season to forget

Nobody expected that Olympique Marseille would regain the Ligue 1 trophy in the 2015/2016 campaign, but the OM certainly have enough quality to fight for a place in the Champions League. However, as things stand now, Michel’s men will be more than happy should they happen to survive in the French elite division as they are sitting in 15th place in the standings ahead of the French Cup semi-final. As expected, Marseille were beaten by Monaco at Stade Louis II at the weekend and you should bear in mind that the French giants are on a seven-game winless run in all competitions. OM set up a meeting with Sochaux by beating the likes of Caen, Montpellier, Trelissac and Granville and Wednesday’s clash against the Ligue 2 side is of big importance for Michel’s team as they are eager to save the season by winning the national cup. Michy Batshuayi was rested against Monaco, but he should lead the attack for Marseille against Sochaux.

Romain Alessandrini returns to contention after missing the Monaco game through suspension, while Lass Diarra and Mauricio Isla are both sidelined with injury.

Quick Facts

  • Sochaux are on a five-game unbeaten run in Ligue 2
  • Over 2.5 goals were scored in Sochaux’s previous three games in the French Cup
  • Marseille failed to keep a clean sheet in last four away matches
  • OM are after their 19th Coupe de France final
  • Sochaux could make it to the French Cup final for the sixth time

Sochaux vs Marseille betting tip

Both Sochaux and Marseille are having seasons to forget, but Wednesday’s French Cup game could be the turning point for one of the two teams. Seeing that both teams are desperate to make it to the Coupe de France final, I believe that we will see a lively contest in Montbeliard. Taking everything into account, both teams to score bet should be considered this time out.

Tip: Both teams to score
