Sanfrecce Hiroshima vs Guangzhou Evergrande prediction

Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Guangzhou Evergrande take on each other in the Asian derby at Nissan Stadium. Bronze medal at the 2015 FIFA Club World Cup is at stake and it remains to be seen who will have a reason for celebration on Sunday morning.

Good performance against River

Despite producing a fine display against River Plate in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final against River Plate, Hiroshima eventually suffered a 1-0 loss to the Copa Libertadores champions. The Japanese outfit had 13 shots on goal during the match, but they failed to turn their dominance into goals. As a result, Hajime Moriyasu’s troops will face Guangzhou Evergrande in the third-place play off on Sunday and they are surely capable of beating the Chinese outfit at Nissan Stadium in Yokohama. Hiroshima will play in front of “home fans” and you should have in mind that the team have suffered only one loss in previous six game on home soil. Hajime Moriyasu’s men impressed in victories over Auckland City (2-0) and Mazembe (3-0) and it remains to be seen if they are capable of keeping yet another clean sheet at the 2015 FIFA Club World Cup. It has to be noted that Hiroshima have suffered no more than one defeat in last eleven matches in all competitions.

The likes of Shibasaki and Notsuda both miss the Guangzhou game with injury, but coach Hajime Moriyasu has no other selection worries ahead of the Nissan Stadium clash. Brazilian attacker Douglas will be the man to watch in the home team.

Barca – big catch for Guangzhou

Despite the fact that Barcelona coach Luis Enrique could not count on the likes of Leo Messi and Neymar for the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final, Guangzhou Evergrande failed to make life difficult for the Catalan giants at Nissan Stadium, but they will be happy with a bronze medal. Barca put an end to the Guangzhou’s 29-game unbeaten run (including friendly matches) and, no doubt, the Chinese side will give 100% to return to winning ways when they take on Hiroshima in the FIFA Club World Cup third-place play-off on Sunday. Felipe Scolari was satisfied with the team’s performance against Barcelona as his men “conceded less goals than Real Madrid”, but they will have to produce a much better display against Hiroshima if they are to win the bronze medal. Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho will be the man to watch in the away side.

Zou Zheng broke his leg in the semis and he is definitely out of contention. Coach Felipe Scolari, though, has no other fresh injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s match. Robinho could play some part against Hiroshima.

Quick Facts

  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in three of Hiroshima’s four previous matches
  • Hiroshima had four shots on target in the 1-0 defeat to River Plate
  • The Japanese side have netted nine goals in previous five matches
  • Guangzhou Evergrande have kept three clean sheets in last five games
  • Felipe Scolari’s men have suffered only one defeat in all competitions since May
  • Guangzhou shared spoils with Gamba Osaka in their last meeting with a Japanese team

Sanfrecce Hiroshima vs Guangzhou Evergrande betting tip

Both Hiroshima and Guangzhou are eager to win the bronze medal at the 2015 FIFA Club World Cup and I am positive that both side will adopt an attack-minded approach in Sunday’s clash at Nissan Stadium. Both teams have already scored some goals at the tournament and I would not be surprised if we see a high-scoring affair in Japan. Taking everything into account, both teams to score bet should be considered this time out.

Tip: Both teams to score
