Nottingham Forest vs Brighton prediction

Nottingham Forest and Brighton face each other at the City Ground in the closing match of day 41 of the 2015/2016 Championship campaign. The Seagulls are eyeing automatic promotion to the Premier League and it remains to be seen if they are capable of recording yet another victory over the Reds after beating them in the reverse fixture.

Three-game losing run

Nottingham Forest are having yet another season to forget. The Reds have been struggling in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign and, as things stand now, they will be more than happy should they happen to secure yet another top flight survival. Paul Williams’ troops sit in 20th place in the standings, but it has to be noted that they are nine points clear of the relegation zone, which gives fans a reason for optimism ahead of the visit of Brighton. Nottingham Forest are on a three-game losing run in the league and you should have in mind that the Reds recorded only one win in last ten league matches. Anyhow, a victory over the Seagulls would see the hosts move one step closer to securing the elite division survival. Key player Britt Assombalonga has been sorely missed this term (serious injury) and the funny fact is that defender Matt Mills is the team’s top scorer (five goals).

Kelvin Wilson is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day. Michael Mancienne is doubtful as well, whilst Eric Lichaj returns to contention after serving his ban. Britt Assombalonga is closing in on return.

Play-offs on the cards, automatic promotion still a dream

Thanks to a 2-1 win at Birmingham City Brighton stayed in the race for automatic promotion. The Seagulls are sitting in third position in the Championship standings and they are just four points behind second-placed Boro. Chris Hughton’s men are on an eight-game unbeaten run in the league, but they need to start winning on a more constant basis if they are to return to the English top flight. One thing is for sure: the visitors head into the City Ground clash full of confidence and they are determined to record their third consecutive win on the road after beating the likes of Milton Keynes Dons and Birmingham City in previous two away fixtures in the Championship. Tomer Hemed scored a brace against Dons and the team’s top scorer is widely expected to lead the line for Chris Hughton’s team against Nottingham Forest.

Sam Baldock and Bobby Zamora are both sidelined with injury, but coach Chris Hughton has no other selection worries ahead of the trip to Nottingham.

Quick Facts

  • LuaLua scored the winner for Brighton in the reverse fixture (1-0)
  • Brighton scored exactly two goals in each of their last three league matches
  • Seagulls are on an eight-match unbeaten run in the Championship
  • Nottingham Forest failed to score in previous two home games
  • Reds recorded only one win in previous seven home fixtures

Nottingham Forest vs Brighton betting tip

Nottingham Forest do not seem to be at the top of their game ahead of Monday’s game against Brighton. The Reds are on a three-game losing run in the Championship and I do not believe that home win should be considered this this time out. The Seagulls aim to regain their spot in top two and they are definitely capable of extending their winning run on the road to three matches.

Tip: Brighton to win
