Arsenal vs Bayern Munich prediction

Disappointing defeats to Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos turned the high-profile encounter against mighty Bayern Munich into a must-win game for the Gunners. But, having won each of their 12 competitive fixtures this season, the Bavarians won’t be too concerned by Arsenal’s worries and no doubts they head to the Emirates looking to maintain the perfect start.

Arsenal on fire

Having shown a great deal of promise last season, Arsenal were widely expected to continue the rich vein of form into the new campaign, but they instead needed quite a while to hit the ground running. With key player Alexis Sanchez finally returning to full fitness midway through September, the Gunners started seriously raising their form and they have finally started playing to their potential. The disappointing home loss to Olympiakos remains the only under-par result in the last four weeks, during which Arsenal hammered Leicester City, Manchester United and Watford in the league while beating bitter rivals Spurs in the League Cup. Those impressive displays should have done wonders for the players’ confidence and they will give the Gunners a lot to build on ahead of the crucial Champions League clash against Bayern Munich. It is no secret that Arsenal desperately need a win on Tuesday evening to keep their qualifying hopes alive and the only way to do so is to attack from the off. Nevertheless, the heavy pressure and far from reliable back line could prove major issues when facing Europe’s in-form side.

Gabriel Paulista faces a fitness test, but Olivier Giroud is back from a one-match suspension. Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Danny Welbeck are definitely out.

Relentless Bayern

Last season could not be considered a success for Bayern Munich despite lifting the Bundesliga trophy, but Pep Guardiola’s side appear ready to make things right this term. Even if the likes of Ribery and Robben were long considered key players at Allianz Arena, it is now clear that the team play better without them, especially with amazing Douglas Costa making an instant impact after joining from Shakhtar Donetsk. Striker Robert Lewandowski is in the form of his life, having bagged 16 goals in 12 matches this season, but his excellent performances are also the result of having two natural wingers on the flanks who keep sending accurate crosses into the box. The Bavarians have won all 12 games this season and while the team clearly did not want to waste too much energy in the weekend’s 1-0 triumph over Werder Bremen, six straight victories in which Bayern scored a total of 24 goals are enough to suggest that Arsenal defenders will have their work cut out for them. It is also important to note that the German giants were victorious on their last two visits to the Emirates and they are definitely the favourites to make it three in a row.

Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben continue to miss out, but Kingsley Coman has recovered from a muscle problem and he is in the squad.

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich betting tip

Arsenal have seriously raised their game of late, but the Gunners are now under a great deal of pressure since a defeat in this match could all but end their hopes of reaching the knockout stages. And with Bayern Munich on top of their game and searching for third successive win at the Emirates, we are backing the Bavarians to win this one.

Tip: Away win
