Hannover vs Hertha Berlin prediction

The home side are looking to upset the visitors from Berlin and build up on the 2-1 over Hamburger last time out, in order to make a further step towards safety. On the other side, Hertha will be keen on making a positive result that would keep their European dreams alive.

Encouraging win over Hamburg a boost for the hosts

Hannover 96 have produced an impressive second half display at Hamburger SV in the last round to turn the deficit from the interval and secure a much needed 2-1 win. Kiyotake and Sane ensured Hannover took all three points in a game that will be huge morale boost after a disappointing opening to the campaign so far. Die Roten have already suffered as many home defeats as they have in seven of the last ten seasons and are currently occupying the 14th place in the Bundesliga standings with eleven points in as many games. Hannover are among the least efficient teams in the league and will have to work hard if they want to get away from the relegation scare. Michael Frontzeck’s charges will be looking to use the current momentum though, as they are coming off from a run of three wins in the last four rounds, but the game against Hertha will be a stern test for the Reds who are struggling to keep the ball in possession this term.

Hannover’s top scorer this term Hiroshi Kiyotake, who scored the total of two so far in the league, is likely to miss the game due to his foot injury. Confirmed absentees for the match are Edgar Prib and Charlison Benschop.

Dreaming of Europe?

The Berlin outfit are sitting sixth in the league with 17 points after 11 rounds. Die Alte Dame are on the place that would bring European football to Berlin next season, and the team is very much motivated to go on from strength to strength. Hertha have been halted in the last round, as Pal Dardai’s charges succumbed to the comprehensive 4-1 defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach in front of their own crowd. The Old Lady will have to make a swift return to winning ways after the emphatic loss which saw them change places in the standings with their last rivals. The team from Berlin will be looking to bounce back from a disturbing loss which was a huge blow to the European ambitions, but Dardai’s is putting his hopes in the hands of his key performers. Vedad Ibisevic and Salomon Kalou have been in fine form this season, having scored four goals each, but will not be paired in their trip to Hannover. The Bosnian international is suspended, while Salomon Kalou has recovered from a concussion and is ready to start upfront. It must be noted that Hertha are winless in last six matches against Hannover, and Dardai’s troops will have to work hard if they want to make anything out of the upcoming event.

Hertha’s ambitions for the trip to HDI Arena will be hindered by a long injury list. Julian Schieber, Niklas Stark, Thomas Kraft, Peter Pekarik, Anis Ben-Hatira, Sami Allagui make it the total of six player in the medical room.

Hannover vs Hertha Berlin betting tip

Last three games between the Friday’s rivals have been drawn, and I believe we are in for yet another tightly contested affair. Under 2.5 goals can also be a good choice.

Tip: Under 2.5 goals

Odds: 1.73 (8/11) @888sport
