Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen prediction

Having shared the spoils with Borussia Dortmund at the weekend in the Bundesliga derby, Bayern Munich will be looking to return to winning ways in the national championship when they take on Werder Bremen at their Allianz Arena.

Bayern dropped five points in last two games

Against all odds, Bayern Munich suffered a 2-1 loss to Mainz at their Allianz Arena in their last home fixture in the Bundesliga. Nonetheless, the most important thing for the Bavarians is that they managed to hold second-placed Borussia Dortmund to a goalless draw at the weekend. Pep Guardiola’s men now aim to return to winning ways and they will be aiming to return to winning ways when they take on Werder Bremen on Saturday evening. The title holders are desperate to make amends for the embarrassing loss to Mainz and I am positive that the hosts will go all guns blazing at die Werderaner in the Allianz Arena clash. Pep Guardiola, though, could rest his key players for the Champions League clash against Juventus and no doubt the reigning champions will be with one eye on the Juve clash when they square off against Werder.

Holger Badstuber, Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez are all sidelined with injury. Pep Guardiola has no fresh injury worries ahead of the Werder game. Franck Ribery is likely to start the match, but Thomas Muller could be rested for the Champions League clash.

Uphill task for Werder

Werder Bremen have been manufacturing outstanding showings in recent weeks. Following a 4-1 win at Bayer Leverkusen, die Werderaner outclassed Hannover in their last league game as well and their fresh confidence will be tested in Saturday’s match against Bayern Munich. Werder are no longer sitting in the relegation zone, but they are just three points clear of bottom three ahead of the trip to Bavaria. Viktor Skripnik’s men have nothing to lose in the clash against the defending champions, but I believe that they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. The attacking partnership of Anthony Ujah and Claudio Pizarro has been in a perfect working order in the second half of the season. The two strikers have netted 20 goals between each other this term and all eyes will be on them when Werder Bremen face Bayern Munich at Allianz Arena.

Wolf, Zetterer, Sternberg, Johansson and Bargfrede are all out of contention through injury, while Junuzovic and Fritz both miss the match through suspension. Coach Viktor Skripnik has no other injury worries.

Quick Facts

  • Bayern Munich are after their 12th consecutive win over Werder Bremen
  • Bayern are eyeing their eighth clean sheet at home of the season
  • Pep Guardiola’s men scored 16 goals in previous four meetings with the Bavarian team
  • Werder Bremen scored eight goals in last two league games
  • Over 3.5 goals were scored in three of Werder’s last four away fixtures

Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen betting tip

Bayern Munich are just five points clear of Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga standings and I am positive that the hosts will take Saturday’s game very seriously. The Bavarians do face Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday, but seeing that the visitors head into the match with a severely-weakened squad, home win appears on the cards. Werder suit Bayern and the title holders are likely to crush the bottom-table side in front of home fans.
