Bayern Munich vs Schalke prediction

Bayern Munich will be aiming to clinch top position in the Bundesliga standings with a win over Schalke at their Allianz-Arena. Pep Guardiola’s men are eyeing their fifth consecutive win in the league, but die Knappen should not be written off just yet.

Bundesliga title on the cards

Thanks to a routine 3-1 win over Stuttgart Bayern Munich increased their advantage over Borussia Dortmund to seven points in the Bundesliga standings. The reigning champions are on the right track to defend the domestic trophy, but they have big ambitions for the Champions League knockout stages as well. Pep Guardiola’s men did well to eliminate Benfica in the quarter-finals of the elite competition and, taking everything into account, FCB are enjoying yet another season to remember. Batern will face the likes of Schalke, Hertha, Borussia M’gladbach, Ingolstadt and Hannover in the season finale and, no doubt, a victory over die Knappen would see the mighty Bavarians move one step closer to clinching the Bundesliga trophy. Robert Lewandowski started the game against Benfica from the bench, but the Polish attacker, who has netted 25 goals this season, is widely expected to lead the line for the defending champions against Schalke.

Arjen Robben has yet to overcome his injury and he remains in the recovery room, alongside Holger Badstuber. Jerome Boateng is sidelined with injury as well, while Xabi Alonso misses the game through suspension. Juan Bernat is likely to be recalled to the starting line-up.

Fine performance in the Ruhr derby

Schalke did remarkably well to hold Borussia Dortmund to a 2-2 draw in the Ruhr derby at the weekend, but it has to be noted that Borussia coach Thomas Tuchel rested his key players Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for the Europa League game against Liverpool. Die Knappen dropped to seventh position in the Bundesliga standings, but they are level on points with Borussia M’gladbach and Mainz, who are sitting in the Europa League berth ahead of Matchday 30. Andre Breitenreiter’s men face a tough fixture list in days to come as they will take on Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen in the next two league fixtures and it remains to be seen if they are capable of grabbing something from the games. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar produced a fine performance in the Ruhr derby and he will be looking to extend his goal-scoring run in the Bundesliga when Schalke take on Bayern Munich at Allianz-Arena on Saturday.

Benedikt Howedes, Uchida, Sidney Sam and Leon Goretzka are all sidelined with injury, while Sead Kolasinac is out of contention through suspension. Serbia defender Matija Nastasic has overcome his injury.

Quick Facts

  • Bayern Munich are undefeated in last 11 meetings with Schalke
  • Schalke failed to score in previous two away games in Bundesliga
  • Pep Guardiola’s men are after their fifth consecutive win in the league
  • Schalke recorded their last win at Allianz-Arena back in 2011 (DFB Pokal)
  • Bayern Munich scored ten goals in last four league matches

Bayern Munich vs Schalke betting tip

Bayern Munich head into Saturday’s game full of confidence. The title holders got their job done in the Champions League in midweek and they are now on a quest to move one step closer to clinching the Bundesliga trophy. Schalke are not regarded as good travelers and I do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Bayern’s party at Allianz-Arena.
