Austria vs Hungary Team News
Guido Burgstaller did not make Austria Euro 2016 squad, but Marc Janko has overcome his injury and he made the cut. The experienced attacker is likely to lead the line for Das Team against Hungary, but all eyes will be on duo David Alaba – Marko Arnautovic when Austria kick off their Euro 2016 campaign. Arnautovic picked up a knock in training, but the Stoke City attacker should be fit to face Hungary on Tuesday.
Goalkeeper Adam Bogdan is ruled out with injury, but uncapped defender Bernabas Bese is included. Experienced attacker Zoltan Gera came as a substitute in a 2-0 loss to Germany, but he could be recalled to the starting XI. Adam Lang has overcome his injury, while the likes of Krisztian Nemeth and Akos Elek are both rated doubtful.
Injured: Adam Bogdan (20/0)
Doubtful: Akos Elek (38/1), Krisztian Nemeth (24/3)
- Hungary qualified for Euro finals for the first time since 1972
- Over 2.5 goals were scored in seven of Austria’s last eight matches
- Under 2.5 goals were scored in Hungary’s last three games
- Hungary were beaten by Belgium in their last match at European Championship finals
- Austria failed to keep a clean sheet in last five matches
Austria vs Hungary Prediction
Austria coach Marcel Koller can count on all of his star players for the Euro 2016 opener against Hungary. Bernd Storck’s troops made it to the Euro 2016 finals by beating Norway in the two-legged tie, but Das Team are likely to pose a much bigger threat for the Hungarians than their previous rivals. Austria have big ambitions for the tournament in France and I believe that they are going to kick off their campaign with a win over Hungary.
Betting Tip: Austria to win
